Does your mirror switch not work properly?
i.e. not make the mirrors go up,down, left or right?

Try this simple fix.
Remove plastic shroud/window inner seal(Dependant on model)from car,pop switch out of the front.
Unplug switch from loom, pull off circular toggle.
Gently prise out switch from rear of holder.Be careful as 3 tiny metal cones are liable to fall out and bounce everywhere

Proceed to clean and lubricate the 3 pronged sprung contact bit, then remove and clean the 3 metal cones.
Finally,clean all the contacts.

Re-assemble,and Hey Presto! You should now have a fully working mirror switch

Note.Similar as they may seem, the switches from a GM900 will not work correctly in a 9-5 unless you reverse the contacts on the left mirror/right mirror switch

Thanks, Nev.

Just the thing I have to do with the Swiftmobile. Eagle-eyed Martin, spotted this the other day, although as I am not in the habit of moving the mirrors about very often, I was completely unaware of the prob.

edit : typos

Thanks! :)

The switch on my Viggen is different, but used a small screwdriver to dismantle the switch, a pencil rubber to clean up all the contacts, and reassembled in less than 5 minutes!

Working mirrors (bought the car with them faulty) now!

Thanks again

Holy thread resurrection AGAIN Batman!

I found this post very helpful today, but there were a few differences in the later switch that I have on my 53 plate 9-5.

1 - You don’t need to pull off the round joystick toggle anymore to disassemble the switch.
2 - The 3 cones and contacts have been replaced with a small pcb with the contacts built in, so you don’t have to worry about them falling out.
3 - There is a small rubber cover over the pcb with the opposite contacts built in.

Everything else is as Nev said: remove, disassemble, clean contacts, rebuild, replace.
Drum roll...one working mirror joystick!
