A couple of bits of advice on retrimming headlinings I learnt from doing the XJS which may answer a couple of the questions above..

1 Use the 3M high temp adhesive, may cost a bit more but at least you know it'll do the job. Buy it from a reputable source.

2 Spray glue the entire surface of the panels and material and allow to go tacky.

3 Apply the material 1/2 at a time (or less)

4 if the headliner board is knackered, buy a new (preferably fibreglass one) or one that got the material already glued. It will save you a lot of heartache.

5 Clean the board carefully as any lumps will show.

Good luck!!

There's some youtube vids that make it look easy.

Referring to this knowledge-base thread, I managed to dig up a copy of Paradise Saabs' headlining replacement procedure. Dan has generously given me permission to host it on our web-site so here it is:

Many thanks, Dan! I couldn't find the higher-resolution photos but it should be easy enough to follow as it is.

If a mod could tack this onto the knowledge-base thread I would be very grateful.

Great stuff Bill. And Thanks to Dan for allowing it.

Does that mean you'll be offering headlining material on the website?

Yes, we have the material and the adhesive. Just need to get it on the web-site and finalise the price.
