hi all i have just signed up to this site today and iv no clue on how to use it or ask questions or if anyone can even see this post but i need help i bought a 2001 saab 9-3 2.2 tid se coupe last month it was my friends fathers since 08 and i allways liked it as it looked very smart compared to others around anyway i bought it with it needing a new bottom arm and there was a leak on the power steering so it turns out both bottom arms need replacing and the hydrolic gearbox/engine mount . not a problem so i have been driving it gently until i can repair it when i started having starting problems and would have to tow start it. then i was driving to a friends house the other day and it started to judder then cut out but there is still a quarter of a tank of diesel in it so i sprayed easy start into the airbox whilst on jump leads and it fired up so i was reving it to make sure it was not just running off of easy start or fual left in the lines i let it go to run on idle and it cut out again and would not fire off of easy start so i then towed it and it fired briefly then cut out and now will not do anything i rang 2 saab specialists today and both said fual pump which i suspected and said to scrap it but one did mension to try clean the egr valve before sending it to its death . i am not going to scrap it as i love it but if anyone has any advice i would really apreciate it . and sorry about the long story just wanted to get everything in for people to read :)

TRY CLEANING. THE EGR VALVE.AND THE INLET MANIFOLD. BOTH ARE VERY EASY JOBS TAKE THEM OFF
AND USE OVEN CLEANER TO REMOVE THE CARBON BUILD=UP. YOU CAN LOAN A WORKSHOP MANUEL
FROM YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. TO DO THIS.JIM

many people get a reading that the egr valve has problems,in most cases it may be but after spending £1000 with 3 different garages claiming they can fix the problem,i descided to take it elswhere and they told me that in a lot of cases look at the turbo intercooler,a lot of times the pipe splits,£200 on average depends where you shop, waiting for mine to be repaired on tuesday, fingers crossed i will have my sporty diesel beast up and running mid next week, but to be honest after all this hassell,my next car will be the mondeo turbo diesel lol.

Anyone tried one of these blanker/simulators for the EGR valve?
