'95 Saab 900 Convertible - what's it worth?

I was contacted by a lovely lady from Leiston, Suffolk who finds she can no longer drive her car and would like it to be sold to a Saab-friendly home.

It was first registered 1.1.95. It is due its MOT on 4.1.23. The mileage is 121176. It is black with beige leather upholstery.

The car is generally in good condition, with some scratches on the bumpers.

She paid £3500 for it in 2018.

Ultimately, of course, it is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it.

My own view, others may differ, is that the lady paid rather too much for the car back in 2018. Based on my own experience of part exchanging a '99 9-3 car in '17 would suggest that a nice car in good condition, but with nothing special to commend it, should be worth around a thousand pounds.

As with all convertibles, prices tend to be depressed in the winter months and attract a premium in the spring / summer. I think that you would therefore do better if you were to offer it, with a new MOT, in the early summer. I also think that we are all aware of the issues associated with these cars, and feel that most would want to carry out a full underbody inspection before expressing any serious interest in the car.

Regards, John.

Exactly the sort of response I was hoping for. Agree with everything you’ve said.

I’ll pass this feedback on to her.

Thank you

As above, that was a lot of money for a NG 900 even back then.

Also agree its worth about £1k with a fresh MOT.

I paid £450 in 2017 for my 2.3 auto P reg 900 soft top with 25,000 miles.
Admittedly the roof mechanism was hinky.
