Ian,

Different car and seller than referred to in this thread. Seller ('Joker') as previously referred to, isn't currently listing a Saab, but we await a re-listing with bated breath. His current listings still include the £200 tennis racquet!

Different seller and almost half the price but still way too expensive. That is high Carlsson money for a 2wd TTiD.

I think one or two highly priced Carlsson and Turbo X adverts have led to some inflated prices for 'lesser' models.

This happens all too often with the classics as well.

Inflated Turbo prices often result in optimistic prices for the base models.

Personally I think in most cases (but not all) the base models are less likely to have been abused and are a better buy. But the cooking models will always attract higher prices.

Well yeah...... I know it's not the car originally mentioned in this thread.

I just happened to see it looked way over priced and decided to put it in this thread that was talking about overpriced Saabs.

Edit, although thinking about it now would have been better posted in Saabs for sale.

Now relisted, same price but with "submit offer" . No one of sane mind would buy it, mind you I worry about
The state of the sellers mind too.

This is making my head hurt. It's the most bonkers thing you can do without being sectioned.

No matter how cut off from society you are, how off grid you live, how pig ignorant you are to the world around you - Surely, even with the worldy knowledge of a brussell sprout I would look at others selling the same and price accordingly or just understand in simple terms that it simply will not sell at that price! - I refuse to accept that this guy thinks he's right when he has an ebay inbox stuffed to the brim with people saying 'What the f**king f**k!'.

Phew! Sorry - had to get that out.

I have a theory that they don't understand where to put the decimal place to achieve the number they want. Possibly even has Dyscalculia, which is like Dyslexia but with numbers.

I'm stumped, you can actually see the rust on the rear arches. Has anyone actually asked him why he thinks it is worth so much money?

I've got mine for sale at the mo, maybe I should increase the price...mine has working speakers after all

Err yes I have and i pointed out all the bits that were wrong with his advert. Told me to never darken his in inbox again or he'd call the ebay police.
He did update his advert though.
Paid £5k for the car originally

Its just down the road from me https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115766593547 ... R6qh3q3zYQ

Pretty sure I have seen it sat at the side of the road in the past.

I seem to recall the paintwork is pretty patchy as well.

Well, not wanting a pile on in any way but here's the reply to my query regarding the price.

Hi,

I have used my own calculation to determine the list price for the car. I am, however open to serious offers below the asking price.

Just the purchase price when I bought the car was a great deal more than other Saab 9-3 Aero Anniversary's (listed on eBay). I found a good example albeit needing a considerable amount of work doing to bring it up to the quality it deserves to be. I didn't start off without knowing what I was taking on, albeit going over by a fair amount in what I estimated I wanted to spend out on the car to get it to the great state it is now, a great drive, and a great example.

So, using my own calculation (not dependant on what I spent out on the car), and taking into account the considerable amount of time, work and money gone into getting the 'Saab 9-3 Aero Anniversary 2.0T Petrol Manual' to the great condition it is now in, the price I came to is the list price of £17,780.00.

I hope this has answered your query, being interested for the money, or not.

Regards,

Joe

I think it's rather nice that he values the car that much.

It is an unfortunate fact that bringing a car up to showroom condition, unless it is a classic or collectible, adds not one penny to its value. Of course it will achieve the top price for its age and mileage but no more. Fitting a new £1,000 exhaust to my NG9-5 made no difference to what I might have received as a trade in. Not fitting it would have reduced the value.

If he thinks he is going to recover what he spent he is in for a nasty surprise.

One of these people that would haggle with a seller....

(I paid less for a brand spanking new 9-3SS Aero (better equipped too) in 2004!)
