Yeah he's definitely smoking something as he's got it for same at £14k, wish I was closer just so I could have a look - NOT to buy

Back up for sale yet again, you think he would have learnt.
I reckon he got his fingers burnt buying it, and can't recoup his money and more.
He's going to get the power steering and electrical bits fixed, which is handy as MOT is due in September.
Bet the listing price goes up.

Still not sold, he's had work done and increased the price

Seller is living in cloud cuckoo land not just for this but with the asking prices for their other listings.

I couldn't resist having a look at the latest ebay ad. Think I do feel a little sorry for the vendor as they have been spending on this with absolutely no chance of getting a return for their money. They are inching toward getting a MOT - how much higher will they value it then?

A scroll down the ebay page shows similar cars for sale, with a great reality check in this 2007 example @ all of £2695 complete with new MOT

I do wonder if someone sold him the idea it was worth a lot of money and sold high to him. But now he's just adding all his work into the car. It was 15k when this thread started.
No chance of a buyer IMO.

I saw this very nice nearly 15k miles 9-3 Aero. One owner from new and garaged.

Everything they are selling is way overpriced. Seems like a bizarre tactic of some kind. Not sure how it might work though.

Very strange. He is selling a tennis racquet for £200 that brand new retails for about £70!

Sent him a message pointing out a few things and that he'd be lucky to get £2500, got a rather stroppy reply saying he's worked the price out on his own calculations and if I read correctly he paid £5k originally.
Also told me not to contact him again or he'll complain to the eBay police.
I watch with baited breath.

I tried that before too. Similar results.

All seems too suspicious to me, hence I have asked the 'ebay police' to take a little look.

"Not cheap" - as he is so fond of stating in his ad (though not in that sense)!

Yes, I’m intrigued as to what the scam might be; have seen other ebayers with massively overpriced stuff and wondered.

Is it a way of inflating the value of your ‘inventory’ for some kind of tax dodge or insurance fraud? or maybe to leverage loans?

Entertaining, anyway.

I just think they're possibly a little... challenged  and don't fully understand decimal points.

I think I read that there is some sort of ebay dodge where you put the price up to avoid relisting fees. Can't remember the details. Could be money laundering I suppose but in this case it just sounds like someone with a very distorted idea of what their stuff is worth.

We recently sold one of our old bikes on FB. Paid £60 new over 10 years ago, got £30. There was a knackered one on ebay for over £100 - 'rare vintage BMX'. Some people see an overpriced listing and assume their similar item will sell at that price.

There's a massively overpriced utterly mullered c900 battery tray that's been on ebay for months. Rare doesn't always mean valuable.

After a MOT fail, SC56OVG passed today. It isn't currently listed on ebay as previous listing was removed, but assuming it shows up again, do you think the price will be higher (or lower) than the previous £17780 ?

Yes I do think it will be higher. When he originally put it on eBay it was £15k.

Shock - it is back at the (not) bargain price of £17780, same as before it passed the MOT. "Not cheap" as seller is so fond of stating. I observed the tennis racquet is still listed @ £200 (twice the retail price of a brand new one).
