I have a B234R longblock that is sat in the corner of my parents garage and they are threatening to skip it!

I did have it earmarked for my 9000 but I feel I may have to sell it on before I get round to fitting it, what is it likely to be worth?

I don't know about as an engine, but if you strip it into the cast iron and the aluminium the ali is worth about £30 and the cast iron £5-10.

Ooh I have a B202 cylinder head in there too, is that worth anything as scrap?!

Stripped of valves etc and pressure washed its worth ~£10

Before you consider scrap value how complete or potentially functional are these items?

A complete working b234 shortblock without guarantee is on ebay for £500 as a benchmark.

Listed for £500, but not necessarily sold at.

The longblock is rarer, and no use in a FWD Astra conversion so less likely to sell, but if someone happens to need one then it's potentially worth more if you can hang on until they do. And I don't think Marc's parents want it to hang around much longer. ;-)

Whilst the B205 is much more common which doesnt help, I couldn't give one away earlier this year. Hence knowing the scrap value of the stripped parts so accurately.
