C900S LPT Aero, grey.

This one was advertised on eBay 5 days ago with a Buy it Now price of £5250 or best offer.

It was snapped up in the space of a couple of hours.

Now being offered by a trader on Facebook for £7500

That was my old car (the one I hid from my wife for a month last year )!

The guy I sold it to offered it back to me but I was already into another purchase so couldn't take advantage of the deal. It was offered to me back at the price I sold it to him at and that was a fair bit less than the asking price last week!

I think the asking price now is a bit too rich for an LPT and it wasn't perfect (although still very good) - still had corrosion in the hatch gulleys and the roof near the sunroof was showing signs of bubbling. And no, it wasn't 'restored' by Two Stroke, merely a going over to sort some minor issues. That said, the current seller is asking only a smidge over what the guy I bought it from paid Two Stroke four years ago and I just got it for a bargain at the time I guess.

I did both wings, the bonnet, the sill by the driver's door and the windscreen scuttle so it was very solid. If the asking price started somewhere in the mid-6s then I think it would probably be worth it.

I think your right, in the region of £6k is where its at.

When it was first offered on eBay I thought it would not be around long as it was priced realistically, I was hoping it would go to an enthusiast or at least someone who would improve it before moving it on.

But a bucket of water and its back up for sale with a £2k premium.

I think the vendor has seen that ruby red LPT, up for £7,750 recently, go relatively quickly and thought that's where my price point is.

The guy I sold it to was so enthusiastic about it and started to improve the car. For instance, he installed a new crack-free dash, wood inlays, sorted out some corrosion on the OS inner wing and (incorrectly, even though I think it looks better) replaced the standard black grille for a chrome one which smartened her up. He only put it back up for sale as he's 74 and did his back in, so found it difficult to get in and out of the car. He was genuinely sorry to see it go.

Overall, a solid car that drove really well and when I put it through an MOT in October the tester said it was incredibly sound underneath. Shame I didn't buy it back now!

The vendor is a regular SAAB C900 trader.
He has just spotted another potential profit for a quick turnaround and snapped it up.

Mentions 'A lot of service history with old invoices etc'. The old service book was stamped to around 2000, then only a smattering of invoices from a couple of years' back - there wasn't an extensive history on this car, I bought on condition and potential.

Out of interest, you mention he's a serial C900 trader - has he sold a fair few C900 convertibles from a fancy back garden in the past, and mainly via eBay? The location rings a bell.

Yes quite a few C900's of all types including convertibles.

MO is to buy off eBay and advertise on Facebook and C&C or vice versa.

Coincidentally, discovered today whilst sifting through paperwork that the guy I sold this grey LPT to used to own the blue FPT I now own. No associated with UKS either, just complete coincidence. Small world

Price has been dropped to £7000 on Facebook, still £2k more than he paid for it at the beginning of last month.

Originally on eBay for £5250 ono, I guess he would not have offered the full asking price, so he is still looking for a profit.

I tentatively enquired about it two months ago (more out of curiosity than anything) and he agreed to sell it to me for £5,500 back then. Given what the owner prior to him did to it (new dash, etc) and what I sold it for, I'd say it's pretty much on the money now.

The work was all done by the last chap and he sold it for less.

Its close to what it should be, I see it as still being a little expensive in the current market.

Its a £5k car.

There are a lot of C900's up for sale at the moment, with not many of them not selling unless excellent condition or cheap.

Cheap cars and the best will always sell.
