1996 9000 CSE What's it worth?

Hi all,
I'm thinking of selling my 1996 9000cse, rare colour (willow green) currently 222000 on the clock although it had an engine (137000) and gearbox swap at 213000 as reverse gear was a pain, engine was fine but oily.
Had an aero flywheel and Sachs clutch kit at the same time.
Sand beige interior with electric front seats, anniversary steering wheel wood dash the interior is a very nice place to be.
New dampers all round, some poly bushes up front.

It's had a JH stage 1 upgrade, nice drivable car with a surprise when needed. Also has a jetex 2.5" cat back exhaust again nice and quiet, I don't need to draw attention to myself.
It would be offered with the original engine and gearbox, plus a set of doors, good front n/s wing (as it needs replacing, might get round to getting it painted and fitted) and a tailgate. The steering rack creaks but I have a replacement (again I might replace it).
Reason for considering selling? I'm looking at moving overseas.
I've owned it for over 5 years and it's been a joy to drive but if I do sell I'd like an enthusiast to continue looking after it.

So the original question what's it worth?

Looking at 9000's advertised and recently advertised here and elsewhere your probably looking at around £1500 maybe a bit less.

There are a couple of old ads here viewforum.php?f=55

Plus some live ones in the classifieds on here.

Aero's, Carlsson's and Anni's are the more desirable of the 9000's.

CS/CSE prices are all over the place and unless exceptional do not make great money.

This one has been advertised for several months https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184988893404 ... Swym9hEDo6

Plus there are a couple of Anni's on C&C that have been there for quite a while.

This one has been up for a while as well.

Priced relatively high for the spec, but it has mileage on its side.

I agree with 'Espin99T', 'saab4me'. The 9000 is a very underated motor car; in my experience, any car, no matter how good, is only 'worth' what someone is prepared to pay for it 'on the day'.

If I was looking, I'm afraid that I would not be interested in your car at any price, not because there is anything wrong with it, but because it is not an automatic. If, however, I was looking for an example in that colour, with that interior, and to that specification, my choice would be extremely restricted and I would probably grab your hand off at your asking price!

In my experience, 9000s are still seen by many as 'just another old car' of little value. Only the other day, we had someone at the door asking if we wanted to sell 'that old car' on the drive and offered us '300 quid to take it off your hands'. He was politely informed that the car was my wife's daily driver and was not for sale.

If we did wish to sell, I think tha the figure suggested by 'Espin99T' not an unreasonable one. If I was in your shoes, I would probably advertise it in this forum or other similar 'enthusiast' arena at £1995, and 'shake' at around the figure mentioned. Most enjoy to haggle and everybody likes to feel that they have got a bargain.

But, at the end of the day, the values of our sort of cars are always going to be subjective - you just need to find the right person who wants your car. I wish you good fortune with the sale.

Regards, John.

In complete contrast to that, I wouldn't be interested in an automatic but a good manual would be interesting. A case of finding the right buyer.

Is this my old one? P216 JYC? If so, it's had a few bits done since I sold it!

I loved that car. Would concur with the values given.

It is indeed, like any old car they're a work in progress but that's why we own them. It's at a place now where it should keep going for some considerable time with regular maintenance.
I just hope when I do sell, it goes to someone who appreciates it and not someone who's going to rag it everywhere.
