I'm sure folk here have seen this 900 carlsson advertised for quite a while now

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1327539

Its price has swung wildly over the last month or so, starting around 19K, up to 22K now down to a 'lowly' 14.5K.

Has anyone enquired or has more information about this car?
It appears to be an attractive price for a carlsson...

At the risk of repeating myself, I haven’t seen the car in the flesh but was shown pictures by the owner when I bought a T16S from him and his son in November of last year up in Manchester.

I therefore can’t comment on the condition of said car, but I can shed some light on my buying experience with the car’s owners: in short, I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them. A number of people on this forum were put off by the sellers terrible comms, but if you overlooked the fact that the logbook wasn’t in their names, and a few other things, they were actually ok, but it certainly looked like the ad could be a scam to nobble you out of your deposit. However, we sent through the requested £500, and set off the next day.

On arrival, and from 5 feet away the car looked clean with no surface rust and looked to be as pretty much as advertised, but my brother and I were not allowed to drive the car any further than along the 10 foot drive; reversing once, and going into first gear once to a cacophony of complaints from the owner: ‘I’ve got a guy sending a trailer down later today who’s willing to pay £1,500 over asking if you don’t want the car etc’, while we were merely asking standard questions about the car: he was as jittery as fook, incredible resistant and difficult to pin down. The car had a shoddy repair to the boot floor and rust under the back seats, but appeared ok and was priced ok too, so a deal was done.

The drive home from Manchester was the most hairy 3 hours I have ever spent in a car: both the suspension and brakes were totally shot, I have no idea how the car managed to pass an MOT so recently, the car either refused to stop without an enormous pedal effort applied or pulled the car right into the next lane, as we thumped and bumped our painful way home in pitch black with terrible headlights and slow wipers (turned out to be a bad earth point).

The advert also stated no rust, like they all do, which we knew to be a load of old bolognese. Despite the above, the car is fundamentally a good car, but was nothing like as advertised.

Tread with caution.

Thank you Ben for your reply and apologies for asking you to repeat things, I didn't see your original comments for this car.

Well, I won't be treading at all after your experience. For me, buying a car goes hand in hand with buying into the person who owns it!

Not at all! It could well be a peach of a car, and certainly the one I bought from them was fine: if they’d advertised it for more and been honest about its faults then we probably would have arrived at the same price I paid for her. I suspect with my car, they bought it for a bit of a steal from the previous owner (who owned it for ages), realised it needed a bit of fixing and just flipped it on. I think that they have owned the Carlsson for a while, so I’m sure the situation would be different. But I agree, it’s important to bear in mind who you are buying any car from.

That's all we want, an honest seller!
