Yes, they shine sideways to light up the side of the car.

it must be the least expensive easiest and most pleasing modification i have made to the car this year. its just a really nice touch.
the guide you home lights on modern cars left me cold until i discovered an application for them at the static caravan -when i arrive i park forwards so the lights illuminate my walk to the van and make opening the door easy , then i can put on the outside lights to ease unloading the car. little task but made better by a simple light.

I would imagine ideal if you have a track to reverse up with a wall each side, or indeed in a car park

Or your commute consists mainly of single-track roads with Devon banks (stone walls hidden inside hedge), often in the dark, and you routinely meet traffic coming the other way...

It's not a lot different. Just that the roads get narrower as you go farther south...

I can barely believe they could get smaller! The land rover mirrors ends are testament to the width of the roads.......it's fun though isn't it

You don't get the walls so much in Somerset, but the ditches are bigger  Especially the rhynes on the levels, you'd definitely want to see those!

I'll hopefully get a chance to try the lights out soon. I'll report back!

Couldn't someone do a write up on fitting reversing sensors on a 9000, complete with photos.

Nice job, I'll see if my 92 has the wiring..I presume these are lit all the time ? to avoid some of the confusion above it might be more appropriate to call them kerb lights? I had them on an old Cadilllac many years ago, very useful for dark roads..

No, only lit when reverse is engaged

Oh! not heard of that before, sorry.
I think i'd rewire them to the side lights as kerb lights personally..

I'm doing this on the og 9-3 then the 9000 ('97). Of course neither have the wiring, so can anyone suggest a method that takes account of doubling the current? The wiring looks like only 5 amp.

Perhaps splice off the reverse switch at the gearbox, mount a relay in the engine bay?

Many thanks - cardboardcutout
