The time has come to renew the insurance on my daily driven 9k Aero, I know that prices have shot up recently so how much should I insure it for? Quick spec of the car: 1996 silver manual Aero with 144k miles nice clean Rocky black Aero leather seats, clean bodywork, few marks, no rust, recent timing chain kit, genuine clutch, rebuilt gearbox with Quaife ATB (lsd), Jules remap (T7 boost control) full 3" stainless exhaust system with sports cat, poly bushed suspension arms/engine mounts, Bilstein dampers, new brake disks with EBC Yellowstuff pads, braided brake and clutch lines. Unfortunately no history other than MOT history as the previous keeper didn't forward it as promised :( .
Anyway what do you think she's worth?

I have mine '95 Aero with many extras insured for £2,500 on a agreed value policy as a cherished vehicle. 180,000 miles.

You'd probably have to pay between £3.5k & £5k for a similar replacement.

So I'd say the £5 - £6k as an agreed value for insurance purposes is about right.

The underwriters will knock it back if they think its too high, they may also increase it if they think its too low.

That's what happened with the agreed value on my 99T, the agreed value came back at more than I had valued it at.

If your not paying extra for an agreed value they will obviously only pay out what the market value is at the time, never mind what you have said its worth when taking out the insurance.

I may be under insured then :( but the agreed value was to cover the costs of all the extras i had added over and above market value if it ever got written off.

Values have risen dramatically in the last year or so which is why I posted as had an idea of value but wasn't 100% sure
