A very nice 4 door. But the vendor is describing it as a 900i, which is misleading as this is the carburettor base model.

Which is why I posted it as a C900 SC (single carb)

900 badge on the back plus no centre console are just two of the obvious clues.

I suspect the vendor is unfamiliar with the marque and has not registered the carb under the bonnet.

This is still available. Now described correctly as carburettor. Looks like a very nice car and I’m tempted as I like the earlier 2 and 4 doors. On dealer’s web site the description ends with Luxury Pack. Is that a thing or another mistake? Does the (apparent) condition justify the price for such a base model/engine?

It’s a nice looking C900, but it is a little overpriced for a base model SC.

Sub £5k is where it should be priced.

For £5k its a lot of car when compared to prices for similar era cars.
But SAAB prices have always been low as availability of good cars outstrips the number of enthusiasts.

With the likes of Ford it’s the other way around, hence the price difference between marques.

Personally I like the fact they are an accessible price classic, affordability will in time lead to demand.
But some are trying to force the market on prices before it’s ready.
Hence why cars priced like this are not selling.

Thanks for replying. Good for a newbie to hear the opinion of a stalwart Saab owner.

I'll resist temptation and not contribute to ballooning the market.

If I had been quicker off the mark I would have had your lovely 2dr! But the Missus balked at the colour of the interior and is pushing me towards soft tops.

You missed a good one there

By far one of the best colour interiors on a C900 and very much of the period :D

No longer advertised on Autotrader or their own website.

I couldn’t help myself and I got all the info on it. Super nice car. It’s plainness really appealed to me. I made him an offer very, very close to asking price, just knocked off the cost to trailer it back to Yorkshire.

He wasn’t interested. Said no without thinking. Turns out this is one of his personal cars, not his business stock.

I get the feeling he never really wanted to sell and was using it as click bait for his business website.

Nevermind, plenty nice cars out there. Just need the patience to wait for one to come up.

Too expensive for what it was.

If your still looking this one looks a good buy.

I think its reasonably priced for what it is, £4.5k would be a nice price to get it at.

It does look nice but I’ve had hatches and estates before and this time I’ve set my heart on a 2 door, 4 door or convertible.

I’m checking cars and classics regularly, as well as Facebook, EBay and any other listings I can find.

I don’t have the patience to wait for my ideal to come up, a 2 door 8v turbo with sun roof, and I’ve started leaning towards the more basic models with low miles and owners.

I’m looking at a 1990 900i 4 door now with 3 owners and 58k miles. Awaiting photos and videos to see if it’s as solid as it looks in ad.

The red one that’s been for sale for a while?

I Don’t know how long it’s been advertised. Any idea? It is the red one in Wincanton.

I know it’s over-priced at the asking price but if it is as solid as he says it’s worth negotiating.

Have you got any info on it beyond the obvious?

If its the one I'm thinking of then I do not know anything about the car other than its been up for sale for a good few months.

Originally the seller was asking close to £10k, I think someone may have had a word or he had a reality check and dropped it closer to £5k.

It does not look as nice as the 2dr I sold for less money, for me even with the miles its a £4k car at most.
