Right good project this one, I would think the only way that body would drop on top is like this one.

Well we hadn't intended for it to be ready until the beginning 2012 but seeing that we started now we may as well set ourselves a goal :lol: .

We really need to see what obstacles we shall be facing with this type of extensive fabrication and also an adequate amount of testing/tuning etc before we unleash it on the track.

Looking to stay well under the magic tonne - we anticipate around 900(ish)kg with either 350 or 420BHP. On that basis roughly speaking 390 to 460BHP per tonne (a very loose estimate).

As far as paint job is concerned - Black and Yellow of course!

Pretty confident they will. They swallow our 6 pot Maptun Calipers using a spacer - can't imagine the Hirsch Calipers being bigger than them?!

As simple as that concept seems, that essentially what we are looking to achieve. The difference is that the body will be fixed to the shortened floorpan of the 9-3 Sport and the body of the 96 will have to be heavily modified to accommodate the engine, suspension and wider track.

The back end won't be too much of a problem as the 96 shell will sit between the suspension uprights of the 9-3ss platform. The front end will be more fun, as you'll have to lose (most of) the 96 inner wings to fit around the 9-3 transverse engine...plus you'll end up with "running boards" down each side of the car!

Thanks, we shall see - they're Brembo 4-pots, same as used on the F40 apparently...trying to avoid needing spacers and finding a set of the later Hirsch 6-spokes is proving impossible!

The rear of the 96 seems to slip quite nicely between the rear arches of the 9-3 Sport.

just thinking out loud, just trim enough of the bodies so that the sit together, cage it up, the full on climbing frame job, make some wide arches to cover up the sticky out bits and bobs your mothers brother

Great project Mr Neo Brothers but dare I say, it's not really a 96 with a B207 engine fitted is it :wink: , more of a hybrid, and dare I say, more 9-3 than 96, still gonna be good though fellas.

As you can see we have the lowered the body further onto the floorplan of the 9-3 Sport. Still needs to go down further to maintain the natural shape of the 96.

Today we fitted the rear springs and also wheels & tyres. This was to establish how wide the track will end up and also how high/low the body would need sit once sitting on it's new boots. It gave us the opportunity to quickly mock up the body to see where the panels will roughly fit and where we will need to make further adjustments:
