Organisers have said they will announce the rescheduled date by 23rd March latest so that will give us time to rebook the hotel.

Lemans 24hour has been postponed to 19-20 September.

I'll hold off too. I refuse to pay anymore on premium rate numbers, and have had no response yet from my contact via the site last night.

Re: Le Mans, any news on the Classic?

As well as the ability to rebook, Travelodge are now offering a voucher to the value of your original booking.

Quote:
Saver Rate
If you have booked a non-refundable Saver Rate please find your options below:

Cancel Your Booking Online

You can cancel your Saver Rate booking and receive a Saver Rate Cancellation Voucher within a few working days after cancellation, redeemable for the same value. Please visit the Manage Booking section of our website to cancel your booking.

Seeing as the date is getting closer I have now cancelled my booking this way, I received my voucher code with the cancellation email.

Note you cannot redeem or change the booking within 24hrs of your scheduled stay. So redeem or change soonest.

As it's unlikely we'll get a rescheduled date this week, and very unlikely it will actually happen this year, following your above post, I too have now cancelled. Thanks for posting this Mal, as I'd not looked into it more as work is going mental trying to complete and hand over 2 hospital facilities.

I was conscious that Thursday was fast approaching so checked their website again to see if I could re book for next years date.

But its still not allowing bookings past February, but obviously this was a new option.

If its not rescheduled I can hopefully use it for another trip before the end of the year.

Well, if it's cleared up sufficiently by November, we could all reconvene at the Classic Car Show? We'll go and harass the SOC lot as we're not exhibiting

If the Resto show is finally, completely cancelled, for this year, (Which I think we all suspect it will be), what are the chances of UKSAABS sharing a stand with the SOC in November?

If the Classic show goes ahead, I'd expect the stand allocations were already made by now? So unless anyone cancels and they rejig the layout, I doubt it would be possible?

Yep Nick I have just received an E mail telling me that the show has been re-scheduled for the 7th to 9th of August.
Also heard this morning that the NEC may get turned into a temporary hospital....

Update. I've just booked 3 night at the Premier Inn beside New St Station, £137 for 3 nights. (Cancellation possible up to arrival day)
Let's hope life is getting back to normal by early August

Andy

Do we really think this will be sufficiently over by then? I'd be inclined to doubt it very much?

Me too.
Plus if we are anywhere near back to normality, I will not be able to attend on those dates due to planned work/personal commitments.

Yeah, I wonder, even if it is all over by then, will people want to go to crowded places.....?

Life will not be as before, for a long time to come, I methinks.

I think the rescheduled date for the NEC is looking less likely now, and the LeMans Classic which was scheduled for July has now been postponed to the 1-4th July 2021

Yet they are planning to have mass gatherings on a daily basis in pubs, restaurants and schools

Whilst there has been the odd muttering of re-opening schools, but not until the new school year in September, I have heard of no plans to allow pubs and restaurants to re-open.I am hearing of events scheduled for October now being postponed.

At the moment the only thing that seems clear is that lockdown will continue, probably initially for another three weeks. The countries now easing restrictions might give us an indication of how things might progress.

Oktoberfest has been cancelled and that normally starts 3rd Saturday in September.

I was supposed to go to NSU-Treffen in the black forest in 6 weeks time - it is now scheduled for mid-August. Given that France has indicated it's borders will be closed many more months I think this year's meet won't happen, sadly.

I still hope Practical Classics goes ahead.

I can't see the Resto show going ahead in August.
Events way beyond August are being cancelled.

EVEN, supposing it does, who's going to want to go to a crowded place like the NEC?

I agree Andy.

Social distancing will be with us until at least the end of the year, so any large and especially enclosed gathering will be a no no.

I see Europe is beginning to very tentatively ease lockdown restrictions.
There are calls to do the same here, as the deaths has reportedly peaked and is now believed to be falling.

All this despite a backdrop of concerns about a potential fresh surge in the number of deaths, as a result of an ill considered rush to prematurely end the lockdown.
