Hi folks,

After a bit of advice from anyone who has had a C900 resprayed/partially resprayed recently.

Mine is a '91 car in red, and showing it's age and particularly on the bonnet the paint is very faded with areas that have worn through clear coat completely. I'm not sure if this car has had an aftermarket bonnet or respray on the bonnet at some point in it's life, as I was under the impression these were single stage paint from the factory?

I'd really like to get it resprayed to bring it back to it's former glory, wondering if anybody has got any advice or recommendations of who to go with. I'm based near Oxford but would be happy to travel within a reasonable distance for a good job. The other how long is a piece of string question is what to budget for something like this... i'm reasonably mechanically handy so would be happy to remove trim etc myself to keep costs down but the prepping and painting is not really something I've much experience of and wouldn't want to do a DIY bodge job!

Keen to hear what other people have done!

Thanks
Alex

I tend to do all my own weld to paint so I'm not going to be much help on costs.
First some c900s were single stage like my Yellow vert but others eg leMans blue were base and clear.
2nd to check if the rest of the car is single or lacquer then take some T-cut on a white rag and rub a little unobtrusive area if the rag goes red it single stage if not and the area gets a bit shinier then its lacquer
3rd if it's just the bonnet then try to or get someone to machine polish the car and see if you are happy just to do the bonnet
Problem us that most good paint shops are making loads out of insurance work so they are priced out of range. Those that are left is a bit if pot luck.
