Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year & model in the post subject/thread title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Year - Car Model - Brief description of issue. FOR EXAMPLE- ''1999 9-3 - Problems starting when hot.''

For Tech II issues or help requests please state the following in your thread title ''Tech 2 help required - state issue and your location ''.

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum, note compliant threads will be moved back when the mod/admin team next visit the Pit Lane. if your thread has been sat in the Pit Lane for 24hrs+ after editing, pm Tech II to request release)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

No idea if this is possible, but I have a VSS unit and remote fob from a MY97 - Is it just a case of seeing if there's a plug for it and just plugging it in?

It has Trionic 5.5 and not looked into it's .bin file, but I am assuming that it would already have VSS disabled flag in the firmware? Didn't want the immobiliser, just the remote locking. Currently the locks work on the key only.

I may be able to add one of those 12v relays with fob to control the doors instead, as I did with my 900 ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374189598025

Only problem with this was that when my neighbour opened hs garage door my car unlocked.

While there will be wiring for a Saab security system in the left-hand side of the dashboard, I don't know if it is suitable for VSS because as far as I know, VSS was never offered on any MY 1995 9000.

Strictly speaking, there would be no "VSS" flag in a MY 1995 Trionic ECU since there was no such thing as VSS then and there would probably be no code in the ECU to handle it. T5Suite might let you toggle a value a memory that it says is a "VSS" flag but it's unlikely it would do anything.
In any case, if your Trionic ECU *did* include VSS handling and it was enabled, your engine would never start because there is no VSS unit to tell Trionic to disable the immobiliser, which is always enabled on power-up in a VSS-enabled Trionic ECU.

Will see if I can put the VSS/Remote unit into this my95 - There are so many changes in just two years in these. Is there a list of Model Year differences?

Note that a new suecurity system was introduced in 1995. This used a fob that looked like the later VSS fob but I don't know if it was the same. Then VSS was introduced in 1996. My 1995 CSE has no factory security but the connector is there below the left-hand front speaker. It has a plug connected that has some of the terminals jumpered to others.
