On reflection we have come to realise that there has been a bit of a gap in the forum when it comes to people trying to source parts, or specialist services. Workshop isn't really the right place for this sort of thing, nor "parts wanted" (which auto-prunes).

So we've created two new sub-forums in the "Saab Garage" section.

First is Looking for, and recommendations of, suppliers of new SAAB parts.
This is for hunting down that elusive part, exploring the range of suppliers/costs, etc. Equally if you've done some legwork and found a part or a part for a bargain price, this is the place to share it. The quality of this section as a resource both to you and to future users, is dependent upon good info being fed in (starting with basics like a good level of model information being given in the first instance, and saying whether you're recommending or wanting).

Second, and along the same vein, is "Looking for, and recommendations of, garages & specialised service suppliers".
This is for finding either garage recommendations, or speciality service providers (or for sharing any gems you come across). Again, rubbish in = rubbish out, so including basics like where the provider is/needs to be, what the service is, and other basics like that, in the thread title, will be helpful.

An interesting and hopefully useful development (would be even more useful if I could see the garages/services one - I get a "You do not have the required permissions to read topics within this forum" !

The snag with the previous topics (especially the recommended garages one) was ... it's difficult to search by broad location, you have to trawl through all the postings before you decide there's nothing quite what or where you're looking for !
Have the previous recommendations been transferred over to the new locations ?

Could you try again now please? The current garage recommendations thread has been moved there but no-one has had time to think about splitting it out, maybe that will follow at some point.

Great idea. When looking for advice on what part to buy in the past and it's gone into the wanted section.

Exactly - then 60 days later it gets pruned and no-one else gets the benefit of your research. Can you now access both forums?

That's because essentially you wanted something, such posts did not belong in the Coffee Bar or Workshop section.

The new forums now cater for just such posts, so no excuses from the usual suspects who post everything in the Coffee Bar

Didn't want an item but wanted advice on what item to buy.
Tbh, never looked in the wanted section, as I never have anything to sell.

Anyway, it's not important now as there is a section for it. :)

I've only seen wanted sections on websites being used to see if other members have an item that you want or need.
Lots of people wouldn't check the wanted section to help people out on what to buy.
Advice on an item is different, anyway that's going nowhere and there is now a new section that makes sense.
