I’ve obtained a replacement driver side rear brake calliper for my 1984 c900 but try as I might, I cannot get the blasted thing off - the bolts are rusted. It looks like there’s also a small metal flange against one of the inside surface nuts - do I just bend this out of the way before trying to turn it? I’m going to have a go with some penetrating rust spray but wondered if anyone else had any words of wisdom?

Thanks.

Sounds like a locktab if against one flat, so you would bend that out of the way.
Fiery spanner may be required if brute force and ignorance alone not suffice

Knock the metal tab out of the way as per Mr Haynes. Spray on some penetrating oil or WD40, then give the bolt top a good tap with a hammer to break the rust bond. Use a long breaker bar. Should be no problem.

Thanks for the advice, got it changed today, feeling smug! Just a quickie, the retention clip is slightly different in shape to the old one. Have I got it the right way round? It seemed to rub the disc the other way.
