Hello,

My ignition barrel has broken, the key is just spinning. Can anyone tell me an easy way to set up a hot wire whilst I wait for a new barrel?

I promise its my car!

Is it locked in reverse? If so, you'll have to dismantle the lock mechanism first....

you have to take the whole gear stick carrier and assembly out anyway to get the barrel out (theres a hole in the bottom that you have to firkle a paperclip in to release the old barrel), so you could do that now and remove the barrel and take it out of reverse (if you remove the plastic base plate and have no lock barrel in it will move) and then put it back in (the new barrel will just drop in from the top when you get it)

It is held in with triangular security nuts. you will need to chop up a socket to fit them or chisel them out. If you want to refit normal nuts afterwards I think they are an imperial thread not M6.

All the ignition barrel wiring is on top so is easy enough to work out if you look up the colours in the haynes book.
