Having a "Discussion" at the moment with an E bay seller who's advertising an electronic key fob for, and I quote "Genuine SAAB 96 99 button remote button fob + key".
Trying to tell him that no SAAB 96 was ever made with remote locking, and was just wondering if the 99 ever was.
(since it went out of production in the mid 80s, I kinda doubt it).

Around that time I was installing car alarms with central locking but on most cars that involved fitting a solenoid in all the doors. Perhaps this guy thinks that an aftermarket systems is OEM?

The guy doesn't care.
The guy's illiterate, anyway, difficult to decipher what he's trying to say, never heard of capital letters or punctuation.
I've given up.

It just irritates me when I see stuff for sale on E bay, and it says "Fits SAAB 96", when it patently doesn't. Macpherson strut front suspensions assemblies, gearboxes that don't even resemble a 96 gearbox, etc etc.

I'm with you on this Andy.
It seems to be far east sellers who flood the place with stuff tagging each and every car make and model.

I knew an example of what I meant would turn up sooner rather than later. In my search "Saab 99"

I suppose I could but the problem is rife.

I mean people that know their cars, know when something does not fit their car, but many people don't have that much knowledge, and will blindly buy, just because it says "Fits SAAB 99".
