Volvo goes to China - new EV brand - POLESTAR

Carcass of Saab goes to China - new EV brand - HENGCHI :wall:

It's like a lingering kiss of death :(

Sunday Times review of Polestar 2 yesterday, reviewer (not Clarkson) thought the car reminded him more of Saab than Volvo. Review was semi-favourable....

MG5 EV estate with a 200+ mile range and charging up to 80% in 50 mins coming out. Approx £25K

I know it is a Chinese with old Astra underpinnings (but more modern than 9-3), with only the badge that is a link to old Morris Garages, but it actually doesn't look too bad.

Meanwhile in Tianjin/Trollhattan :corn: :corn:

Might be some light at the end of the tunnel for workers at THN.
Sounds like Soros production not yet started, even no mention of Koenigsegg production there either.
Nothing about 9-3EV production in Tianjin.

nearly 9 years now.....

Two takes on the link....

Like in Tianjin production hasn't taken off in Trollhattan either.

When you go into Saabblog there is some interesting reading. Seems I missed something in the news prior to Christmas:

https://en.saabblog.net/2020/12/28/saab ... came-true/

even if Mahindra was the eventual suitor things might not have worked out, but then again Saab had a much higher brand recognition than Ssangyong.... What makes me anxious is that my service garage has a bit of a record of dealing with failing or fading businesses - Saab, Subaru (when have you seen a new Impreza?) and now Ssangyong...

A small estate with a high loading lip and rear seats that can't fold flat...nah.

Too many false dawns - doesn't sound like the NEVS 9-3 is making an impact in China either.

What about the Turkish car that was supposed to hit the road in 2019?
