Just a quick note to thank the member (who I won't name, but he is a regular contributor) who sent me a full set of 99 instruments completely free of charge after I contacted him to ask if he had a working clock, which I was more than happy to purchase. You, sir, are a true gentleman. :D

I'd also like to take a second to register my appreciation to the members, mods and of course TFC, without who this place wouldn't exist.

I've been a member for just over fourteen years and even though I don't post very often, I still rate UKS as having the most knowledgeable and helpful members out of a number of forums that I visit regularly due to the variety of my fleet!

Ok enough gushing, back to being a grumpy bugger!!

Furthermore I have gained a bit of business on here and met three of the main saab related business owners on the site

Apart from the inspiring restorations, like Ian Laws', that encourage me to push on with my own c900, I couldn't have done it without the advice on here, plus the bits and pieces I've bought from members over the years. To be honest, if it wasn't for either posts in reply to my questions from them, and just reading the other posts, of BillJ, Paul Taylor, Toe, and others, our T16 would have gone to the scrapper years ago.

Yesterday I found the receipts of some brake work we had done when we first got the car - £80 for front brake discs, £50 for pads, £50 for labour. That's quite a mark up, isn't it? Thanks to this forum and Saabscene, we will be fitting new rear calipers, discs, pads, and probably hoses in the next few weeks, saving a fortune and enjoying doing the work ourselves.

Thank you Mr Grumpy for putting into words what most of us feel. As I see it, the prime reason for UKS’s existence is to keep as many Saabs on the road as possible, not just by making parts available but also by making it economically viable to do so.

Over the years I have had a fantastic amount of advice and moral support from members. Long may this ethos last 8)

Thanks very much, don't want to derail my own thread too much, the Camaro is in my "to-do" pile, a solid car in form of a giant jigsaw - someone else's stalled project saved from the scrap yard! :argh:

Yep, excellent forum, peopled by some really nice people.
I also was sent a couple of items recently by someone on this forum, gratis, didn't even want the postage.

The V4 forum, though obviously very model specific, is also a great, if much smaller, forum.
Forums are so much better than Face Ache!!!
