If I made a thread about restoring our c900T16, the photos would be the same. We just did localised repairs on the wheel arches and bought a used drivers side wing and replacement door though as they were too far gone. . Add in holes in the corner of the boot, a couple in the engine bay, and the front crossmember on ours too. Fortunately the windscreen surround was sound. It is amazing how a car can look ok but underneath the bodykit it is rusty as anything.

Spoiler alert

More pictures coming later.... been told I've got to go shopping now! :(

Dave then moved on to the front wings, battery tray area and driveshaft tunnel....

This was my driveshaft tunnel repair from about 8 years ago. Not looking too bad but not a lot left around it!!
Image

Image

The inner tunnel not looking too good!
Image

Dave decided it would be easier to grab the inner and outer wings off a good car rather than messing around trying to recreate from inner and out arch repair panels. He duly found a bargain 900i that donated it's front wings.

Image

inner and outer wing removed
Image

Temporarily fitted. It needed some welding but nothing like as bad as the ones off my car.

Dave sorted the nearside cill by unpicking along the entire length, cleaning it all up, welding it back together and seam sealing and underseal.
Unfortunately, I can't locate any pictures of this activity. I'll have to see if Dave has some.

Dave blasted and painted the front slam panel assembly

And oil cooler

Suspension and brake refurb

Newly refurbished front suspension and brakes including new brake lines and flexy's all round.

So with the bodywork looking pretty good, it was on to the engine for a minor tidy up of seals, belts, replace some gaskets, refurbish the dizzy, a bit of a clean up and a refurbished cam cover.

As it was

Fantastic work. What paint are you using on the body and on the cam cover? The finish is really good.

Sorry, not checked back for a bit. I believe Dave had some rattle cans made up in the right colour for all of the engine bay area, I'll check and confirm. The outside is being resprayed professionally. I'll have to ask about the cam cover paint but I imagine it is some sort of high temp black in a rattle can.

A minor update as I've pretty much caught up with proceedings on the last update.

The car has now moved to the bodyshop. The windows are all out and doors and hatch are removed. We found a little bit of rot around the front screen but not too bad. This will be welded, dressed and fettled.

Image

Flatted and on the way to it's new paint job.
Image

Image

The area around my rear quarter repair is going to need the most work :?
Image

Bonnet has had lots of paint over the years. At one point it was blue, so this going to be stripped back to bare to be safe.
Image

Dave has taken the sunroof and door check straps etc back to clean them up. Apparently the sunroof was showing signs of corrosion.

It may be a couple of weeks or so before the next update as I've caught up with progress.

This is looking great.
You are so lucky to have Dave putting the effort in and getting the work done.
