When i was 19 and had my 900 T16S. I had 2x 18" Subs in the rear on a custom shelf.
That really was insane.

Previous but one 9000 had 4 x 12's in a ported box , needed 2 batteries and a 180 amp alternator to run it. Cracked the rear doors at the bottoms of the pillars along with god knows what falling off and braking.

Wow, could almost perform CPR on someone with that, just by turning up the tunes. :park:

Cool, I'm 46 so don't worry about that lol, still do a fair amount of festival work and always get the 'are you not a bit old for that' comments from my family :)
My working buddy turned 71 this year so it would appear I still have 30 years of festivals/events to come :)

I made a start on my door cards yesterday , took off the door pockets and laid everything out. Cut some MDF rings and got things ready for fibreglass. I'll put some pics up when I get onto more interesting things, happy to start another thread if you'd prefer Paul?

I've swapped over my pod build onto the 'My Cars' section.

Finished 1! Might recover the pod as it has a few wrinkles but pretty happy overall :)
Hard to show in the image but the covering on the pod and door pocket is a fairly close match for the leather door insert so it ties in quite well.

If you have a look in the 'My Cars' section there is a step by step, kind of.
Quite long to make though, I think I have about 10 hours in this one, passeger side will be quicker though.

The time does not really matter much to me. The sound stage in a 9000 is absolutely pants, there is no getting away from that.
So this has to be done.

Im considering fitting a 6.5" Speaker at the rear of the door, with a 4" Grille on the outside.
Using 6.5" Foam Sealing rings to assist which i already have.
Its simple and does not require hacking of the door panel.

Thoughts ?.

That will just fire into the bottom of the seat or behind you, depending where you have your seat. IMO it would be worse than the dash speakers as no line of sight at all.
How would you fit without cutting the door card?

Sorry meant not cutting the door pocket.
Yes i would have to cut a hole for the speaker cover.

Not sure fixing the speaker from behind and using a smaller hole/grill will work as the cone is likely to hit the door card in operation.
I still think you'd be better fitting bigger drivers or even standard ones into the stock dash location than down there, almost like fitting them in the rear doors.

The Dash ones ive changed for the Pioneer TS-R series since they were on offer at Halfords for 25 quid.
https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/ts-r1051s
Ive sealed the metal baffle plate as best as possible using Silicone and little hand trimmed bits of plastic, to create a sealed baffle plate. I did this to one of my previous 9000's. Although its a faff, it certainly helps the sound quality from the little speakers.

Yeh i guess your right, im going to have to do the pods.
I did find an ebay seller who is doing custom Door pods. Very professional looking at about 80 quid per door card. You have to ship the door cards to him. So the shipping both ways will prob end up costing more than the actual Labour.
Might consider this as i just dont think i have the skills.

Edit, here we go.
ive sent him pics of the Aeros door cards, and he said the price would be about 80 each.

Visual Ice is ok , bear in mind that they won't be made to measure - he mostly uses one of 3 or 4 designs and screws them over the top of your door card, including the pocket.

Q. How did you route your wiring from the door to the A pillar ?.
Given the existing loom is a plug.

I put some new pins in both sides of the plug (there are spaces) and ran wires from them. I have spare plugs if you want some pins.
