I'm looking for recommendations for a welder/bodywork shop in or near Essex, that can get my C900 back on the road (the one of the UKsaabs home page :D ).

It currently needs some cill work on the drivers side, probably a bit of work on three arches (one done), both door bottoms and some work around the front cross member and battery tray areas. It would also need some paint (Taledega Red).

I've done one rear arch/quarter with a friend who was helping but at this rate it'll be another 5 years before its finished as he never has time!

The car currently has no petrol tank in and has been SORN for over a year with no MOT so would need trailering to whoever repairs it. I'm willing to invest money in the car as I have no intention of ever selling it.

Why has this been moved to the spit and polish room?

I'm asking for recommendations for welding and painting not cleaning and polishing!

Ok, I just looked at other posts and it seems this part of the forum is for bodywork now. If that's the case, perhaps we should change the name to exterior bodywork or something more appropriate otherwise there will be no one looking who can help!

Have you contacted Abbott Racing? Their recent work on Ade Wilkins' car looks impressive. I think they use a trusted local bodyshop (must be in Manningtree or somewhere like that)

Thank you. I did wonder if Abbott's were an option but much like Dave at Saab and Vauxhall in Benfleet, they don't do the bodywork in house so I'm paying a middle man for passing on the work! I'd rather use someone direct and get a better deal.

Might be worth asking on the Bodywork forum of Detailing World or on Retro Rides.

Its already in the Board Index title and has been for sometime now.

I realise that now (having read the sub title), but 'Spit and polish' suggests cleaning to me, not bodywork and paint. I think this should be renamed as it's not obvious and let's be honest, it's not very busy in here is it! Posts like this would get a much better reaction in the coffee bar.

Those that post Tech questions, classified ads, meetings etc... in the coffee bar also think the same.
Often they will actually state, ''I have posted in here as I thought I'd get more responses here than posting in the workshop'' etc...

Maybe the solution is to do away with the various specialist forums and make the Coffee Bar a free for all :D

You will actually find a high proportion of members use ''View new posts'' rather than going into individual forums.

So nil responses are more than likely due to nobody being able to advise?

I do however agree on the title, I'll take it to the mods lounge and see if we cannot come up with something more appropriate.

Something like ''The Body Shop & Valeting Bay''.

Heading and subtitle now changed so they are less ambiguous.
