Guys and gals

I have just received notification from the organisers of the Glamis Classic Car show in Angus.
13th/14th of July.

This is probably the biggest show in Scotland, and is a great weekend away.
We usually make a club entry, under some name like Scottish SAAB Enthusiast, or similar.
This gives us a club stand big enough for 10 cars, but we can add more if necessary.

We had Paul Redsaabs up from Chester le Street last year, and he gave it the thumbs up!! (Well it was wall to wall sunshine all weekend, which did help!!!)

We have in the past had a 10 cars stand of various SAABs, ancient to modern. (Plus a big Yankee car last year!)
It's £50 for a 10 car stand, and £5 per additional car.
ie £5 each car for the weekend, +£10 for the weekend if you camp.

Some of us go for the whole weekend, others just come on the Saturday and/or the Sunday. Up to you.
There's a Ceilidh on the Saturday night for those camping on Saturday night. It's a hoot!

It's very early days, but if you think you might make it, put your name down.
The available club space fills up very quickly.

Closing date is 20th of May, though we need to get an entry in well before then.

I'll start the ball rolling.

1/ Andy the Troll.

Andy ,

A brilliant show that was just superb in every way last year, so it's a no brainer to have this show top of my list of shows to attend in 2019. Hopefully l will be joined by a few more from South of the border to enjoy this extravaganza.

Please add me to the list.

Again l will be camping Friday, Saturday Nights.......and look forward again to a great meal and draught Guinness in the local hotel on both nights.

Cheers, Paul

2/ Redsaabs (Friday to Sunday)
3/ Stig.???

James
Any idea if it'll just be Sunday, or Saturday/Sunday, or the whole weekend?
So far in advance, I know it's probably difficult to say...

Paul.
If we want to eat again at the Strathmore Arms will need to make a table booking pretty soon.
What I think I'll do is book a table for 8, (we were about 8 last year on the Saturday night weren't we?).
I'm sure we'll fill the spaces. If there are more, we'll "work round it"!!
Friday night it was just you and me, if I remember correctly.

Let's hope they don't run out of Guinness this year!!!!
The 14th is Bastille Day, so I'll need to remember to bring my French flag.

Andy

Hi Andy,
I have never stayed over on Saturday night but maybe I should consider it this year. . . . sounds like fun. If so, I am up for eating at the Strathmore Arms.

Cheers,
James

You should try it.
There's a great ceilidh on the Saturday night, in a marquee tent on the site.
All very weather dependent of course.

Last year was marvelous, sun from dawn till dusk the whole weekend.

I do however remember about 2 or maybe 3 years ago, when it poured from dawn till dusk the whole weekend!!!

Me and Louise will both be there, camping Saturday night. Provisionally put us down for two cars please.
Louise - 2011 Saab 9-3 Sportswagon
Lucas - 2001 Saab 9-3 Aero Convertible

We can easily change to one car if it turns out to be a popular event.

Morning All,

What are the camping facilities like? Toilet block / Showers ?

The last time that I was in a tent was in Zambia in 2008, a wee bit different to a field in Glamis

I have gone soft but I may give it a go on Saturday night :park:
Convince me :?

Cheers

Stig

Toilets and shower blocks are porta loo type things.
They're fine.
If you're only staying one night, I'm sure you'll survive.!!
There is the hotel in Glamis village, but when we spoke to the people last year, they were already booked out for the following year.
(They only have about 5 rooms)

I've been at the Strathmore Arms this afternoon, and booked a table for 4 on Friday, and 8 on Saturday night.
We can probably adjust the numbers nearer the time, when we have a better handle on numbers.
Last year it was only Paul Redsaabs and myself on the Friday, and we were about 8 (I think) on Saturday night.

Can the car be camped beside? I am quite interested and hoped the 99 could be my accommodation as I often camp in my other one...

Folks.
haven't looked at this for about 3 weeks.
Numbers are ramping up nicely!
8 cars so far. (Lugy bringing 2)

So far, if I have this right, we've got 2 for camping Friday and Saturday night, 4 for Saturday night camping and 2 for Sunday only.

Deadline is in May, but I'd like to get our entry in before then.

Ianlaw.

Aye, we were all camped beside our cars last year.

Andy
