Anyone used these guys at all?

Just been talking to them about a remap and they reckon to get extra 40-50bhp from one. Seems a bit high without hardware updates.

It was for my 2010 9-3 Aero Carlsson 2.8T V6

They say they have had experience working on these engines before, but whether that is from a Saab or a VXR I don't know. (they have lots of info on VXR upgrades on website)

That's a bit high for the 2.8 IMO.

20-30 is more realistic, although there is a lot of torque to spare in the engine.

Have you tried Darren at AP Tuning? Might be a bit too far for you though.
Maptun also do a "Mail Order" remap for this engine too.

Well it uses Bosch Motronic management so anyone who can remap that can do it. You'd want to focus on how they handle the AFR (and to a lesser extent boost), not just the peak power and torque. Ask to see a full dyno plot of one of their cars.

FWIW my 2007 2.8T made 302 bhp on one dyno and 306 on another with around 420Nm torque each time, with a Hirsch remap and Hirsch cat-back exhaust. That's from a base of 250bhp/350Nm. Your Carlsson is already at 280/400, so expect the gains to be lower.

Maptun claims 295 and 470 for their map, JZW 320 and 480 IIRC for their stage 1 maps. JZW makes stacks of torque mid range but doesn't always make the peak power, it tapered off around 300 at 4500 rpm on the one I saw dynoed. Others have been OK.

Really you need an upgraded intercooler and bigger DP for serious power gains on your car.

Must admit I don't want serious gains. Would be a little concerned over going much above 300bhp without extra cooling upgrades. Think I'd rather just have the extra 20bhp & 40nm so may aim for that if i can somewhere.

Any pics of your Carlsson?

I have the Hirsch upgrade on mine.

Defo give Darren Lintorn at AP tuning a shout, he knows these cars inside out, i got mine mapped by him a few months back, its now running just over 300bph and 480ish NM, it's night and day compared to the standard car, only issue for me is my clutch is starting to slip, if yours is Auto, you won't have that issue.

He does mail order ECU as well, so no need to travel.

Without sounding harsh, they don’t know the car properly. No way you can get 50bhp on the 280 V6.
They have confused it with the 250 version.

Maptun or Nordic Tuning would be my suggestions - it’s the torque you’ll notice up from the 400nm you have to 470-480.

Even with the Insignia turbo 330bhp is not happening, so wide birth seems sensible.
