Hi,

Anyone have any experience using car parts express for pre painted front wings ?

Have rust coming through on my 93 2007 and was wondering if they are good parts / paint match.

Thanks

Realistically mostly no paint matches unless specially made or done by a bodyshop.
What colour is it?

They say I can send a easily removable part of the car to them for match. Otherwise I can probably get them send without paint.

You might be better off sourcing a used wing on the same colour / year.

Was thinking of that but don't want to take the risk in case there is under lying rust on the used wing.

Get the scrappy to confirm no rust and send it/them back if on inspection there is, shirley?

I gog one for my daughters 2002 corsa a few years ago and it was pretty much spot on, slight colour fade bit pretty good match

Thanks. I think I will see if they will send it unpainted and get the body shop I'm using to do it they are good at matching paint.

I’d get the body shop to source the wings.

Pattern panels don’t fit great at the best of times

Im a painter of 20 years and no garage I’ve worked for would fit a pre-painted pattern wing.

90% of the time a new wing will require blending into the door.

Generally pattern wings are questionable quality. Ie swage line not correct,
Pressing around head light not great and they often require holes enlarging and generally fettling before painting to make them presentable.

A used one from a scrap yard could be a good idea if both cars are still on original paint but it’s unlikely.

Depends how fussy you are but unless you are on a mega tight budget and prepared to fit the wing your self it’s not a option I’d consider.

Post a pic of the rust,
Might be able to treat it and save the original wings.

Thanks.

I'm booked into body shop at end of August to get it sorted.

They are going to treat, fill and respray the rust instead. Im not going to bother going with new aftermarket wings to much hassle I think.

Guys at shop said rust isn't to bad and catching it early.
