Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the thread title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

OK, so the first symptom was when I was sat in a jam on the M6 yesterday. Put the car into neutral, let the pedal out, and she jolted forwards like she was still in gear but luckily the handbrake was on.

Today, the clutch starts to slip at higher revs before I really struggled to get certain gears. Recovered by the RAC, with their mechanic also witnessing the fact that he could actually drive the car in neutral, leaving him rather baffled.

What do you think is the matter here?

For anyone who wondered what the matter may be with my car, it turned out that she had a hole in the gearbox with little/no oil. Replacement FM55 B13 box, new clutch/DMF and slave, and she's back on the road. My wallet is £1,026 lighter, so now I need her to pay me back with as many of my business miles as possible.

Also had a rounded sump plug removed and a new one fitted, engine oil/filter and air filter changed.

Oops. Glad you got it sorted, on the plus side hopefully the clutch pedal is feeling lighter as well as your wallet :-)

She is driving great and the best in my ownership thanks. I'm on 45p/mile for business miles for a few months, so she will pay me back over 30p/mile above the cost of the diesel. Just hope nothing else goes amiss............
