How do I neutralise the evident static which causes dust etc. to end up between the screen and the film? I’ve applied them successfully in the past but just wasted a pack of two. I did the second one in nothing but shorts in case it was clothing related. The debris seems to be attracted to the film, not the screen.

Thanks -cardboardcutout

You're shedding skin cells all the time. This is your problem here. You should apply the film whilst in the shower to ensure all dead skin cells are washed away from the screen/film

Don't get this protective film malarkey , a decent flip folder type case .

2015 phone and 2014 tablet & zero scratches .

My take: it's worth paying someone a few quid to do it for me.

I got one of the lifetime warranty backed cut-to-shape while you wait jobs for my Huawei P9, and have a buffer type case that protects the back and sides.

Looks like the film lasts roughly a year. They've replaced it once so far without any quibbles when the one edge started to lift. I've never managed to get much more than a couple of months out of one I've put on myself...they always seem to start to degrade, then that bugs me and I wind up ripping them off.

Flip cases are also a good option if there's one that works well for you available for your handset. None of the ones for the P9 appealed to me when I got it - especially as I wanted the chunky rubber corner bumpers to save it from the inevitable drops to the concrete garage floor.

...do need to get a proper case for the Tab S3 though... I'm terrified of dropping/scratching that thing.

Oh...and yes, a Huawei P9 *can* survive being run over by an Invacar.

My devices are in covers too, but I've put protective film on cameras, smart phones, iPads without trouble. Belt & braces. Maybe these particular films are static-prone.

As a matter of interest to show how much abuse a screen can take, my four year old IPad has never had a protective screen and I usually have dirty work hands (like now) when I type. I use it to take pictures of the underside of cars and use it as a camera etc for sailing, camping on the motorbike etc and it still works fine... It,s been covered more than once with Dinitrol, a quick wipe with white spirits cleans it up lovely job

Do they do the tempered glass protectors for ipads? I have one on my phone and it was much easier to apply than the sticky film things which always got air bubbles in them.
