What do you guys use / recommend for sealing 93ss headlights after sanding / cutting back resto work?

Have seen it mentioned, but no details on what was used?

Hi nemesismoo,

I have been using Meguiars Headlight Protectant on mine since restoring them a couple of years ago. It's a bit like sunblock for the lights as it claims to protect against UV. You are supposed to rub it on about once a month.

Seems to work and adds a nice glossy sheen.

Not sure what other folk use for a more permanent solution.

almost 5 years ago I gave my headlights a more permanent refurb.

320 on a d.a, 500 on a d.a then some 1200 and grey scotch brite followed by a grip and a full coat of 2k Lacquer and they still look like brand new to this day.

Gun finish and never been polished.

I was lazy and did them on the car in about 1.5 hours from start to finish. Ideally should have removed them but the finish spot on and I was pushed for time.

A mobile smart repair guy could do this for £80ish. ( better than polishing them imo)

I did post up a step by step guide of some mk4 Astra head lights I did years ago

I used the clear UV lacquer from www.paints4u.co.uk

Not been on long enough to tell if it lasts...

Ditto, had mine done about 4yrs ago, guy used a 3M Headlamp Restoration kit, rubbed down and sprayed with a lacquer/hardener then baked them in the booth with my painted front bumper. Still looking good today.

Mrs K's CRV headlights were awful when we bought it. After flatting and polishing I used Autosmart platinum then Topaz. Now, I just give them a quick polish with whatever I'm using on the car on the rare occasions that I polish it.
