So I took the day off to clean the car ready for the magazine shoot it is going to tomorrow.

But most of the day it has been raining...just a few breaks in the downpours for me to get a couple of little annoyances out of the way.

First the exhaust hasn't hung right since I bought the car....really the whole system needs to come off and be sorted properly, the tailpipe was way too low and the downpipe was rubbing against the exit hole in the front valance and making a terrible din.

So I removed the first bracket (the one that attaches to the gearbox) and gave it a bit of (cough) calibration as without it the pipe was clearing the hole.
Then I replaced the bodged rear mount near the tailpipe with something a bit more sensible



So now the pipe doesn't look like is dragging on the floor. While I was at the back I have given the white highlighting around the numberplate and light clusters a bit of a tart up as half of it had worn off (again this has been like it since before the car went to it's Practical Classics photoshoot in 2000) so good to get that done...needs one more coat though.

Then the postman turned up with an unexpected present in the form of some new underbonnet matting, a friend managed to import some via his business from china...not sure about the silver look but it does a good job of hiding the mess of old glue from the original stuff.



Just a few more jobs (like fixing the loom and getting rid of that horrible white bodge wire) and a good cleanup in there and I almost won't be embarrassed to open the bonnet.

Replaced the front numberplate as well after getting a telling off from Rob Beard in the spit and polish section.

That and the amazing work Willington has done on my paint and she is looking quite presentable I must say.

oooh good point well made there chaps.

Espin99 yeh the twin headlamps are good. The clear lenses I am a little indifferent about sometimes, I very nearly put the coloured ones I have in the spare pile on but then noticed they needed a damn good clean first.

From what I can remember I am nearly sure that you can wipe the orange off the inside with thinners, just to many years ago to remember
