Another wee update, Janis speech continues to improve but there is no sign of any more movement on her L side, early days yet but it looks like it will be quite a while before they will make any decision on moving her too stroke rehabilitation then back home.

She is deeply touched by everyone's concern, cards and well wishes and thanks everyone for their thoughts, as do I

Afternoon,

I was with my dear grandad last night who had a stroke at the beginning of the year and I've been thrown into learning all about Strokes pretty quickly.

Well done you for sounding so positive. Much better than I managed.

Hope you're still seeing signs of improvement. Fingers crossed for her speach, that's such an important thing.

Bit of a weird day today, checked what kind of night she had then got ready to visit, had a chat with a lovely UKSaaber (Ali) and went to wash some fruit to take into her when i got a call to go into the hospital as her kidneys had went into shut down mode got in and they were flushing her system and blood out, + a couple of scans to check if there were any blockages.

What is puzzling them is the cause of the acute renal failure, creatinine and blood sugar levels are all over the place, they had a chat with the specialists at the Western in Glasgow where they were talking of transferring her, but things seem to have settled back down a bit so they are continuing with the IV/catheter flush overnight and see how things are tomorrow.

She didn't really need this but she is getting there a little bit at a time

She is still crabbit, but that might be do do with my Dr Findlay bedside manner you have got to eat because your blood sugar level is low, I'm not hungry, fine i will take it home and liquidise your meal and bring it, a funnel and tube in tomorrow because one way or another you are eating it.

The sister thought it was funny even if my darling wife didn't see the funny side of my fantastic bedside manner at the time

Differential diagnosis on what causes a stroke or the appearance of stroke followed by renal failure with low blood sugar levels...
