After much thought, I’ve finally decided that I’ll be using this as my daily driver again, summer and winter. It certainly won’t be sat gathering dust.
The only nagging issue is the security, so I need to find the best alarm / immobiliser I can afford and have it professionally fitted. Does anyone have any recommendations?

In addition to that, I’ll be dressing the car down to hopefully make it less appealing to car thieves. No turbo badges or spoilers etc. It will have minilites on though.

Plenty of home-fit options on eBay, or find an alarm Specialist and see what they recommend. There's probably not as much call for alarm / immobilisers now that all cars come with one as standard so choices like Cobras and the like might be limited. If you can get a specialist to fit before the trim gets refitted then it should be possible to do a really neat job.

Most effective I've seen though was a switch in the glovebox linked to the starter trigger wire. Flick that an no amount of trying to hot wire it will get it to start. Get a double pole switch and add the fuel pump (if electric) to it too. And it's not common so a thief is unlikely to look for it.


I wouldn't do a de-badge or de-spoiler personally. That's letting the scumbags win.

I’m going to stick with the de-badging though, the next owner (when I’m dead and gone) can always pop them back on.

I fitted a switch in the glovebox on an old car. It had a carburettor, so it would run for 30 seconds and cut out half way across the traffic lights at the end of the street whenever I forgot to turn it on!! :roll:

But it worked...

Hmm, I wonder...
While pondering getting Roobarb back on the road I've been looking at security too. An alarm by itself doesn't seems inadequate or even pointless as they are often ignored. Though a peiza(sp?) 12v household alarm inside the cabin keeps tempting me.

I did wonder about a disguised switch. Something like a AUX jack socket in the dash with the two parts wired into the circuit. Then a jack plug with the two parts wired together, or even a metal pin to short the two side together.

Well Black Friday was good for me.
I managed to buy a pair of front seats for my car, a pair of Rocky Black leather electric memory Aero seats with a brand new boxed control module for £40.
The seats are in great condition and will be perfect for the White Wolf as a daily driver.
I’ll have to fabricate new mounts for them, but it will be worth the effort. I’m hoping that I can set position 3 on the seat to fully forward and fully tilted to
Allow access into the back.

After 14 months in the body shop, my car is finally coming home on Monday.

There is still a fair bit to do, but I’ll be busy making sure she hits the road in spring.

I decided against the 9000 Aero seats, so I sold them to part fund a Grey Leather C900 interior from Malbrads that is correct for the car.

Drivers seat is off to the Upholsterer’s this morning for repairs, the other seats are as good as new.

I’m missing out on the Saab meets but should be all done and ready to roll by spring.

We’re planning a road trip to Somerset in it in the summer too.

I’ll post regular updates now it’s coming back.

Comfy as they are, the 9000 seats would have looked out of place in the 900, my enthusiasm for them soon fizzled out. Luckily they went to a 9000 enthusiast North of Liverpool.

I’m going for a stock look but with a few tasteful tweaks.

How easy is it to change the front (back) crankshaft oil seal with the engine in situ? I’m sure it’s been done before.

She’s home at last :-)

The shut line above the wing isn’t perfect but considering the panel beater saved the original bonnet it’s remarkable.

First job is to get her onto the skates and then fit the rear exhaust section that was unceremoniously ripped off when the car was stolen. I doubt if the neighbours would appreciate her sounding like a Lancaster bomber.

Exciting times :-)
