Thanks TW bud, looked a bit of a pain to get to the handbrake microswitch.
Will have to do it if it will fail though.

Count your blessings sir. A minor bump in the road of what will be another potential blissful year of Saab motoring and ownership.

They always do.
Before the test yank the handbrake up and down 50 times.
Often works.

Wife's hyundai failed, cv boot and anti roolbar like required. Unfortunately the ABS light failed to go out. No fault codes listed. It's been a random fault for a few years. I did reset the ABS connector and it seems much improved with the light coming on twice for only a few seconds. Retest on Friday!

Should be a great end to the week and a fantastic way to start the weekend.

Hope so, hoping that the ABS light stays off

More good news videos, Filathome. The wife's 9-3 has passed. Advisories on tyres, but the lowest I could find on my gauge was 3.5mm on the edge. I think they complain under 4mm. It does want the tracking doing....

Mine goes in tomorrow, let's continue to think positive thoughts.

9-5 through again. Good emissions - Fast idle CO 0.01/0.20 max, HC 2/200, Lambda 1.005/0.970-1.030, Natural idle CO 0.01/0.30. Are these just because Trionic is so good, or does mine just so happen to be running sweetly at the moment?

Thanks for the positivity, Filathome. It worked mine has passed too. :D

I don't think that is bad for a 15 year old car. No advisories this year. Not one!

Our Saabs are the best! I have said it before and I will say it again. (the fact I was out at 8pm last night, washing, vacuuming, checking tyres and changing one bulb and fixing the stupid rear washer jet even though it won't be tested, had nothing to do with it :loco: )

means the car and its' cats are running well. Believe it or not, the emissions on my Jag are even better ... albeit only slightly :)

On the subject of emissions and after inspection of the paperwork, my 15 year old, non-dpf fitted, 2.2 TiD with 147k miles blew 0.26 on the smoke reading, out of a limit of 1.50.

nope, adjusted it before the test ... turned out that - as suggested by the MOT tester - the handbrake cables were stretched. Replaced them, which was a 5 hour undertaking (albeit I did vacuum up some glass and collect over £5 in change:

... took it in for another test today, passed easily - rear brake was 197/185kgf on the service (foot) brake and 200/171kgf on the handbrake. Before changing the cables it was something like 75/60kgf on the handbrake :argh:

Still not at the root of the problem but light stayed off long enough for a pass
