Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the thread title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot.

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Calamity of errors on my part here if anyone can help? I've changed the cabin filter on older 99-05 cars a few times, but I'm struggling with this '08 Dame Edna.

1) When removing the panel directly below the glovebox, I accidentally hit one of the metal arms going to the recirc (?) motor? The arm to the right of my thumb on appears to be loose. Any idea where it should go or is there any where I can read about this? I've never done anything HVAC related.

2) The glovebox moves about an inch or so, but then won't move further, as if it's hitting something. After part 1, I don't want to force anything. 3 screws removed at its base, 3 at the top. I can see where the pipe goes in at the back for the ventilation, and the connection for the light, but neither are the cause of the blockage.

Any ideas, guys?

So, I've looked at my other Dame Edna, and it seems that someone else might have had a go, as the second car was totally straight forward.

Anyway, if anyone else has this problem and knocks that arm out of place:

Remove the black cover, 4 screws - careful not to drop them. There is a blue plastic 'bridge plate' that one of the arms connects to, with a central screw. This bridge also holds in the gears behind it, similar to a balance assembly in a mechanical watch. Once you remove the screw and the plate, the gears behind can be removed and the arm hooked in place again. Unfortunately this is impossible to achieve without removing everything else.

I'm off for a drive to confirm the HVAC is working ok - if anyone has any thoughts about the glove-box, let me know!

My glove box is a very tight fit. it catches on the metal cover over the lamp.A long flat palette knife from the kitchen sorts that , and it's OK then.

Thanks, mate - I'll give that a go in the morning. I got so spooked by the cover beneath it I pretty much ran away in tears!!
