so the wife says to me
i dont like this car (93 aero ss )
oh? why not?
its too loud its to small, this is not a family car at all, why cant you buy a family car why do we always have to have this type of car??

ah, er umm yeah well what do you like then? (just as we pass a 93 sportwagen outside the doctors)

that i like that

what that estate?

yes

but its exactly the same as this car with a bigger boot?! identical inside just we can get more junk in the trunk.

well thats the type of car i like, i like the family looking cars not this chav crap you keep buying!!!!!

lol

so i put the 93 ss up for sale and started a search for a 93 wagen... and i found one the only problem being is they are a lot more money than we could afford....after scourering the net auto trader ebay all the saab forums gum tree copart etc

there are not many sport wagens about with the v6 lump in it.. lol loads of diesels which is the practical solution, but to make a compromise if im going for this wagen i fancy the nice engine...:)
all seem to be starting @ £5000 and going upwards to £8500

then you have to factor in the 55-06 tax barrier so again that limited me to buying a 55 plate car even rarer.....

so what with looking at cars out of my budget and cars i refuse to pay that much tax on i stumbles across this

a saab 93 2.8 v6t in parchment silver
1 owner from new
55 plate 2005 registerd
83,000 miles

but accident damaged.....

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
ive seen catd type cars before and after and they seem a bit shoddy... but them someof them are really really good cars ...

hour after hour studying the pics and reading up on the process of buying an accident damaged car a few phone calls to the salvage company, i took the plunge , this is a risk to me as i dont have the cash to throw away....so i bought it then this happend my brain engaged...

ive bought a car with out seeing it.

WHAT?!

I HAVE ACTUALLY BOUGHT A CAR WITH OUT SEEING IT , the sheer panic started to scramble through my mind the worry the parents the wife oh Austin Allegro what have i done......................................

then the next problem was how am i going to get it?

its miles away from me even if it were a normal car its miles away from me...

we deliver the salave company said

oh really how much?

where are you ? tq1

yes

£200

hang on thats not bad £82 on the train then the fuel back , a lift up and two cars back lots of fuel not to mention the 4hr drive there and back....

£200 is starting to sound a good idea saves time stress etc

but as what normally happens with me i didnt stick to the normal sensible plan...

as luck would have it the salvage company had to deliver to bristol they quoted me £40 for delivery to bristol....my mother drove me to bristol and i collected it there this morning...

i transferrd my insurance over on friday afternoon with a cost of £26 £15 being an admin fee i phoned my local garage and booked an mot slot for monday morning the tax...well il have to live with that....

so we met in gordano services car was on a flat bed moment of truth getting it off the trailer wont start...

i was like

eff now what!

its ok the battery was disconnected during transport! had a look around the car

first impressions

? brand new tyres
alloys in good order
straight down both sides
front end very tidy stone chips and scuffs to the lower lip spoiler (well an easy fix )
interior very tidy needs a bloody good clean but will be very presentable once cleaned up

ok now for the damaged area the back end

boot lid shafted passenger side rear light cluster in working condition but lens smashed up
rear bumper good on both corners but the middle .....meh could be repaired actually but we will see
parking sensor housing deep scratches and some sensors possibley missing or fallen inside the bumper

the lower lip is intact no damage
any internal damage none visable...

started her up and i was stoked......i mean .....WOW it runs sooooooooo quite soooooooo smooth i was overjoyed the engine just purrred it was lovley

i drove it round to the petrol pumps and it feels nice and tight no knocks crashes bangs no squeeks no rattles very quite in the cabin filled up with v power and drove to the mot station cruis....36 mpg not bad needs a service according to the dash
the drive home i was so pleased i could believe the difference compared to the ss its like night and day not as fast no but the smoothness is very ....well smooth!! lol

yes mildest damage

so some light at the end of the tunnel today was brief as i have come across a set back lol

took to the mot station...............

it past

straight through
advisories damage to tail gate , light cluster , and bumper

i had a look underneath the car with the inspector and the is no evidence what so ever of anything being out of shape it all looks factory fresh under there... it is a really clean car.
things are starting to look up

the problem ive got is there is no v5 at present.

ok so i have my insurance i have my new 12 months mot i now need tax...i go to the dvla office i have to apply for the v5 £25 gutted reason the insurance company has not yet passed the details to the dvla or the salavage company , apprently this is quite common, the slavage company have been brilliant and are chasing that for me in the morning and will get back to me tomorrow

dvla have my request for the v5 and i have a form ready to apply for tax

waiting patiently and will update on this when i am more knowledgable about it...

here are some pics..

Looks grand to me!

Mrs B nearly got one of these back in the Spring/early Summer - I really like them. That engine sounds awesome!

The damage looks pretty straight forward to fix and when fixed you'll have a real bargain!

so thats it, as you can see front lip spoiler needs some paint as does the rear bumper and tail gate at the same time my thoughts are to do the rubbing strips just to finish the colour coding......

i have found a tail gate for £100
and a reversing sensor plastic housing -rubbing strip thingy for £25

cant find a bumper or light cluster at the moment....

I've cured those white mirror frames with AutoGlym "Black Dye". It's been on since the spring and still looks black.

I used some AutoGlym Bumper Care Gel before, but that lasted only 6 weeks.

I'm glad you managed to collect it today mate.

It looks like a great base and once fixed will be an awesome machine!

Looks good - breakers in Southampton have a couple of sportswagens - unfortunately neither have tail lights - might be worth a call in case they have any coming in ?
