Easy to say with hindsight, but maybe it might have been better to get it all set up and proven with plain water or a standard water/glycol mix, then switching to the funky Evans stuff, Mike?

I didn't want to put water in the dry engine Al, you never get rid of it all when you drain it, although this still works ok with a smidge of water..
Also didn't think I would forget a simple thing like fitting jubilee clips..
I better order up another tub eh, just in case

Hi,
Very impressed by your build, fair play, looks very good
Am looking to swap the front end from a facelift focus to my pre facelift model. I seen you had to do a bit of welding on the wings for fitment? Is it as easy as just an unbolt and bolt on job or is there more to it.

It's easy enough job, you'll notice once you place the wing in situ..
There's probably a link on google somewhere..

Not updated much on here..
As 1 or 2 of you will know I've done a couple short track days this year recently and engine seems to be getting a little smokey for my liking..
Decided to whip the head off at the weekend and there are a couple scores on bores 1 and 2..
Thought it might have just been stem seals, seen oil at no.2 port but had oil on all 4 piston tops..
So plan was going to be just swap it out for my B204 I rebuilt similar to this one and fit a std manifold and turbo etc as the daughter is now wanting to use it.. so stg3 270 would do her..
But I may just give the bores a good hone out and fit new rings and rebuild it with the std manifold, turbo etc and see how it goes, hopefully the rings should bed in a bit better and stop the smoke..
Then I'll move onto my 4wd project.. this has to be the last !!!

I stripped the head today to fit new oil stem seals as I never used the head from this engine as there was some alloy corrosion on a couple bits although engine ran fine in 9000 and never smoked..
So I sourced another apparently good head to use rather than stripping another complete engine..
Done a video as to what must have been causing the smoke out exhaust..
Someone obviously hadn't fitted the stem seals properly.. 7 where just slack and lifted off.. wish I had checked it before fitting it.. lesson learned..!! oh and glad I took a pic of new stem seals as I had 1 left over, makes you wonder afterwords if you missed one..

Just waiting on the new piston rings to arrive so I can get it all back together..
