They look good Mike but maybe you should fit winters for your first track day, after all it will be Knockhill in November :D

Nightmare . . . . . just finished a mahoosive story and I was timed out so here we go again.

Aye aye Mike.

If I had 2% of your skills, enthusiasm and energy, my car would be back on the road by now

I have started on the "safety"stuff rather than the "go faster" stuff.

Rear brakes:- drums removed, new pistons, flexi- hoses, fixed lines, shoes, and refurbed handbrake mechanism.

Front brakes:- new discs, refurb calipers, new pads, flexi-hoses and fixed lines.
Refurb master cylinder.

Webber 34 ICH fitted.

Engine running well but, thus far, against no load.

Gearbox selection smooth but only tested whilst moving the car around in front of my garage.

New tyres required.

Some minor welding required ( not by me !)

I am going for a running restoration and possibly some late summer fun ( my car is 50 year's old this year).

My plan ( I don't usually have a plan! ) is to put it all back together then get it along for an MOT.

Suspension refurb to follow if I can find the proper tools for safe removal of the springs.

I will be down to see Saabocus when it is finished or, you could present it to the Collective for critical approval at Doive's Doo in Glenrothes on 21 / 22 April ( See the meetings section).

I can only get back into my garage when I remove all of my Son's garbage. He moved house and deposited his junk which will be there until I erect a new shed in his garden. . . . . . .he is only 38 year's old :wall:

My original story was more exciting but my eyes glazed over half way through.

See ya soon

Cheers
Jim

A handy tip: If you are going to type a big post it's worth doing it in Word or some editor first. When it's done do a cut'n'paste. That goes for more than UKS too. Been caught out a few times myself.

Hi DeeDub8. . . . .I don't usually do long posts but I got carried away with excitement

Aye Mike. . . . . .all parts mentioned ( with the exception of new tyres) are now on site.

I have started rebuilding at the rear end first.

A visit to Fife would be be interesting to see how things should be done :?

Cheers

You made it over the finish line yet?

Looking very good though, colour looks good outside.
I always fancied doing a car in a bright metalflake blue, sort of retro kitsch.
If your up Kirrie way again, give a shout, I lurk around there.

Reminds me, need to get on with mine...been in my garage since april :wall: :wall: :wall: , least it runs again....

Unfortunately it's still sitting in the garage in the same state...
Think we've all missed the track days this year for some reason or another although we've just rebuilt the Subaru for the Isle of Man Rally in November..
Been doing plenty other things as usual..

Morning Al,

Mot'd my eucalyptus green 9000 aero and sold on to a friend last week.. it's a solid old bus..
Currently stripping rotten 9000 auto.. out in the cold frost and snow..

Had considered selling on my T16s 2 door and c900 hatch as 1 resto project..

All so I can crack on and start restoring my 96 fleet :) after spending a few weekends helping Paul (redsaabs) get his all back together and up and running has given me the inspiration and kick up the ass...

Saabocus is in the way of me doing all of the above.. I picked up the plastic parts, vents, spoiler etc I had taken to a painter in 2017 as over a year later where still not done, hopefully these will be done this month so I can get car out the garage..

Also found out the chap that currently owned my RX8 with saab b204 etc etc has managed to kill it, smashed up big style last week.. RIP

I will post any updates on here anyway...

Mike you're a busy man!
Is your 2dr T16 too far gone to keep it's original shell? I'm only saying as I see how rare they're getting now, I can see the value of that thing rocketing and it becoming something you'll wish you'd kept!
Wish I'd the motivation you have!

Ian, the T16s shell is ok to keep mate, nowhere near as bad as your 99.. well I guess you never know until you start to rip it apart...
I don't even know if it runs and drives yet.. but I got this other c900 se auto just in case parts, bits are required..
I never got all the previous history etc etc with the car.. it's done a fair few miles so guess it won't be as high a value as the low milage full history motors..
I prefer the 2 door.. but I've also got a few 96's to do..
