Hi Angus, the Saab is coming together nicely now, the paintwork looks stunning, I hope to see it in the flesh sometime.

Thanks Ian, well, if I keep at it I might actually get it finished some time fairly soon! Quite looking forward to driving it now, so keeping myself motivated with that thought!
Cheers for now, Angus

Tiny update, got the tailgate lock / latch fitted and aligned the tailgate, also fitted the 4 x rear lights. All wired up and working well.

Due to the unannounced policy change from Photobucket I (like many others) have had to abandon my account there, and all of my post pictures have gone. I have now migrated to Flickr and hope to be able to restore this thread with my pictures. I will be able to make future updates using the Flickr pictures, but until I figure out how to bulk upload images etc with Flickr I have made a folder of the pictures from this thread dating back the beginning of the project. It can be found here:

UPDATE: 19 Sep 2017 - moved all pictures to 'Postimage' and updated the thread.

Hi Angus, I think we are all in the same boat, it's a pain in the butt, do you not think Flicker will eventually go the same way?

Difficult to say. The only difference with Flickr is that I already had the 'PRO' account - it was a gift from my brother about 12 years ago and it seems to have no expiry date. I used to use Flickr back then for my forum posting, but went over to Photobucket as it was much easier to get the links to put on the forum page. I have not spent any time looking at how to bulk upload links with Flickr yet, but I am sure it must be possible. Either way, I am definitely wary about using any of these services and in the future will probably try to get my own paid hosted site set up, that way it is probably a lot safer.

Thanks! Unfortunately it is still in many pieces, not getting a lot of spare time to put in to it, but it still looks presentable. I will add some pics here soon.

I had the pleasure of meeting Angus last month and seeing this car almost complete, he has made a cracking job of it I'm quite envious of it all, the well equipped garage and spray booth also the location is just stunning, thanks Angus for showing me round , I'm looking forward to seeing it on the road and hopefully meet up at some of the classic car shows.

Ian

Thanks Ian, it was good to meet you too! Hopefully I will be getting stuck in to the Saab again soon. That tractor I was working on is now back with its owner which has freed up some space and with the B and B season slowing down I should have more time. Can't wait to finally get it finished!

All pictures in entire thread updated apart from the ones of my Audi allroad which I will try to do later. Was not too arduous really. I now use www.postimage.org
Unfortunately I have very little new to update as my attention has been focused on other jobs and projects, also been very busy with my own work etc. Hopefully I will get a chance to continue this in a few weeks and will update then.
I think I took some pics of the last bit of work I did, so will try to find them and post those.

The last jobs I did to the car before getting distracted were to fit a remote central locking kit to the car to operate the front doors and tailgate locks from a keyfob. I bought a cheap kit from eBay but found it to be of excellent quality for the price. I spliced the control unit from it in to the existing loom and swapped the switch mechanism from the drivers door with a spare passenger door actuator and now have full remote operated door locking / unlocking!
Next I refurbished a pair of electric window motors for the driver and passenger doors, then selected the best pair of electric window regulators from my spares. Cleaned everything up and installed and tested both.
Finally, with that done I injected around 3 litres of waxoyl inside the doors and in the cavity's in the rear of the car and anywhere else I had not previously attended to.
Oh, I also did my best to fix the cracks in the dashboard and sprayed it with plastidip. It turned out very nice but the cracks are still slightly visible.

My favourite build and car. Keep it up and maybe one day see it in the flesh.
