Engine and box just needs cleaning and beautifying basically. Despite the 180k (IIRC) miles it ran without problems and was dyno tested a few years back showing 185bhp which it had when new.

And then Nick came to collect the car this afternoon - quite a moment! And as Nick commented, it's still pink :D :argh:

A great milestone, Nick and Simon. Good to see it happening.
Simon, how did you do the soundproofing? Is the black stuff showing around the edge adhesive or a primer of some sort or is it applied over the top of the soundproofing?

Well, the Carlsson is tucked away in my shed, and I chose the right day to move it as the rain held off so it remained dry. I shall be calling in to see Mark at MSA tomorrow on my way to the SOC AGM to have a chat about painting, but it looks like it will be the new year before he has a space. Still, there is no rush and I have to go through all my bodykit parts to find the best of each piece to have painted.

Jim you are welcome anytime for a shufty Jim but I am away to France tomorrow for a couple of weeks or so.

Bill - the soundproofing in the boot is the self adhesive type that just sticks down but leaves a very neat finish.

How long is it now since I picked that up from you?

I know it was a fixture in my shed for a good while until I was able to hand it over to Nick.

Hi Bill - the black around the edges of the soundproofing is POR-15 stuff - just a really hard paint that prevents rusting which I applied before the soundproof material.

The soundproofing material comes in large self-adhesive sheets, so you just cut to size, peel the backing paper and stick it down, and then spend lots of time pushing it down hard to conform with all the nooks and crannies :park:

I expect I'll be applying more when it comes back from the paint shop, as the pads inside the rear wings are coming away, and the ones inside the doors weren't great either - just as well I have plenty of it :D

Ah, I see. It was the black paint that confused me.
Sounds like the sort of stuff john-saab used on his convertible (from Woolies Trim, I think he said). He used a heat-gun to persuade it to conform.
