Why are there no archived ads in the classic parts section and why doesn't the general "parts wanted" section not even have an archive for old ads?

Why can't an ad thread just be left open as long as the item has not been sold/ found? I'm typing the same posts over and over again for stuff that is not easy to find or that doesn't sell quickly, because the threads get automatically closed. I don't think "bumping" is an accepted method on this forum to keep ad threads open (although there are clever ways around this apparently), so please advise.

Adverts are archived only when they are marked as sold. This tidies up the forum and keeps it clear for stuff that is still available. The archived section allows people to see what has sold and what the asking price was, which helps towards preventing the "how much is it worth" threads.

All the classifieds have a 30 day auto prune so if an advert has not been updated for 30 days it goes. The reason for this is twofold, sadly a few people join the forum just to advertise something, and then never return and also many do not update if an item has sold, so it is likely it would become a lottery as to whether an advert was still live or not.

I appreciate that it can be frustrating if your advert disappears when it is still live, and it is a down side to the upsides listed above, but it is fealt the benefits out weigh the disadvantages. Whilst we generally do not allow "bumping" of adverts, if the thread has been active for a while we will approve it, a simple "Still available" or "Still wanted" every 28 days or so will be perfectly acceptable and would be approved, which will keep the thread active.

Hope that explains it, if you want to discuss anything more, please feel free to pm me.
