Hello to all, my first post as a new proud owner of a 2005 9-5 Linear 2.2 TiD, I live midway between Carlisle and Whitehaven in Cumbria and I'm after knowledge of a good local Indie for general servicing work. Anybody recommend one?

Hello!

I've got a few fairly big jobs which have caught up with me, including the clutch, and back part of the exhaust. I need somewhere which doesn't mind using parts I give them, I recall Motorvation Saab near Tonbridge weren't interested when I asked them.
I'm located in Wimbledon, I wouldn't mind travelling a little bit to save money on labour, but I've got to be able to get back easily enough as I only ever have one day off from work at a time.

Any suggestions? I might post this in the Coffee Bar too as not many folks come down these parts.

Keith

Ive sampled a few SAAB specialists in and around my area, ive found the service to be best here

http://www.offord-motor.co.uk/

They specialise in SAAB, TVR and Noble.

Speak to Simon, he has always been very helpful.

Hi all, first toe-dipping into the saab forum :D ........have a 9-5 vector estate 02 plate and currently residing in frosty Bedfordshire. Does anyone know of a good place to have it serviced? I'm a bit fed up of seeing the staff in the service dept rubbing their hands with glee when i walk in and a rye smile on the service managers face when i'm presented with the bill!....or am i just getting a tad cynical!? :?

Cheers

My dad's always taken his Saabs to Robert Holden in Norfolk, and i've started doing the same despite the distance from Portsmouth.

http://www.saab-specialist.co.uk/

Very reasonable prices. There is no-one i would rather have under the bonnet of my car.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've also (when pressed by urgency) taken my Saabs to Saab of Fareham.

http://www.saaboffareham.co.uk/

Their work is very good and i have no complaints there, although they only do what you ask and don't necesserally advise you of other problems (such as replaced wheel bearing - didn't tell me suspension bushes were worn). They do a free loan car service but they are also on the pricy side.

If you live in the South Wales Area I would definitely recommend South Wales Saab Specialists (SWSS) in Cardiff 02920 473040 . It is run by 3 ex-master technicians who left the local Saab dealer to set up on their own. They are very friendly and helpful and have an excellent knowledge of all Saab's. I have also heard that Saabstyle in Taffs Well are very good but we have never used them as SWSS is nearer.

Spot on Saabina. Gareth, Phil and Steve are top mechanics and nice guys to deal with. They have been looking after my 4 Saab cars since they opened and have nothing but praise for their work. Nothing too much trouble.

A & D Motors - Saab Specialist - off Lyde Road, Yeovil. Outstanding service. Also not afraid to admit that he doesn't know absolutely everything about Saabs, especially the newer models, and will root around to get the solutions. Has a very tasty Sonett III and a 96 V4 convertible (that needs a custom-designed and built roof if anyone on here knows how to do it!).

Have to agree with David here. I am in his yard quite regularly borrowing/buying/swapping/trading various bits and pieces. Thoroughly nice chap and as he has a soft spot for 9000s (a bit of a rarity in the SAAB world) I cant help but to like him!

Very knowledgable on the 99/900/9000 range although a lot of the cars I see up there are 9-3/9-5s. I can only assume that Tony does a better job and/or is cheaper than Astleys SAAB which is on the opposite side of Yeovil?

For anyone in the Oldham and surrounding areas, who used to use Allsarb before it went bump.
Frank has set up on his own now and can be contacted on...

Oh and he says, you will like his prices, in comparison to what you used to pay.

Happy to recommend the garage I use for MOTs. I've been using them for 13 years (since I've been driving), and never once have they done a dodgy call or annoyed me in any way. If you're looking for discounted MOTs look elsewhere but if you want an MOT done properly, with a fail if it should fail then try

Waltham Service Station

http://www.walthamservicestation.co.uk/about.html

Even my Dad has started taking his cars there after the council stopped doing MOTs - and Waltham found structural rot that looked to have been there YEARS

Not saab specialists, but they like older cars, especially Land Rovers.
