This morning I posted a thread asking where I could buy floor mats.

A moderator has moved it to the parts wanted section, yet a thread asking where to buy number plates has stayed in the coffee bar section.

Isn't this a bit inconsistent?

Well, I have had several threads similar moved to the wanted section.
I think maybe sgoulds post has maybe not been seen by a moderator yet.
Always thought that the Wanted section is there for asking other members if they have something that you want.
I think on this website even if you want advice on where to buy something and what to buy it should be put in the wanted section.

It is indeed, thank you for bringing it to our attention. The thread you mention has now been moved into Parts Wanted.

I cannot vouch for any of the other moderators, but I have only just seen the thread mentioned.
We are not all here 24/7 (I have just got home after working in Norfolk & Suffolk for the past two days with patchy WiFi) so occasionally we do miss some posts.

I need, I'm looking for a source of supply in other words I want to purchase an item, new or used is pretty much the same.

Correct, any wanteds or asks for recommendations on sources of supply for items (wanteds) posted in the Coffee Bar or Workshops are moved into Wanteds if spotted or reported.

That was my assumption too, presumably Sgould's too?

Clearly we're all wrong

Oh well

Well, my post has been moved! :)

I put it in the Coffee Bar after a bit of thought. The first thought was that fewer people look at Parts Wanted, only looking there if they have things to sell. The other was that I wasn't looking for parts, just advice, really. And further, the posts in the "Wanted" section are moderated and can sometimes take a time to appear, if they appear at all. That's not really what I wanted when I posted. I was looking for comments, not the plates themselves.

Maybe in future those of us looking for recommendations for suppliers should rephrase posts asking if other members have ever bought whatever we maybe looking for but don't mention that we are looking for that item?

Sounds to me like you're wanting advice or opinion there.

I think the mods generally do a grand job and help to make the forum the success it is. However, in this case I can see the logic in the comment by sgould and others as to checking the 'Parts Wanted' section. I have never checked this section as I do not have any parts to get rid of (unless someone wants broken and worn out bits). I would have been interested in where to get decent mats for the OG9-3 as mine are very floppy.
