Not seen any posts for this yet so thought I'd get the ball rolling .

Fernie Castle gets my vote!!!
Not because it's local to me, but because it's such a great venue.

I do understand that others may want to try somewhere new.......

Fernie Castle would be our choice too, the last two times have been great!
Would also be happy to try somewhere else though if that's the popular choice!

Well done, Lucas - someone had to be the first to blink!
I've never yet managed to get to one of these, but am ever hopeful. Have heard great things of Fernie Castle, so quite keen to experience it (and it's only (?) 150 miles away)!
As always it's dependent on date though, definitely can't do 1st December.
Derek

Hope to make it this year - no matter where it is, although Aberdeen doesn't hold good memories after being fined for straying into a bus lane on snow covered roads two years ago.

I'm interested but not sure if I can commit yet.

Fernie Castle is good for me if I can make it.

I've edited the first post to include a poll, choices of either the 8th or 15th December, I suspect the 22nd might be a bit close to Xmas for people.
First choice of venue would be Fernie Castle, perhaps a back up could be the Pirnhall Inn just like the old days .

Thanks for the heads up Lucas.
Alison and I would be up for attending and would happily go with Fernie Castle as the venue. Although we have not managed along when the Xmas meal has been held there in the past I note it has always been complimented by those attending.
I have to vote for the 15th December as I will be on-call on the alternative.

Hi guys,

How are we all doing?
Not been on UKS too much lately, doing other things, but saabs are still up and running

I have voted for Sun 15th. Can’t make the 8th as I have a wedding to attend.

It’s hard to beat Fernie Castle for venue and food, and I always enjoy it there.
My only reservation is to me it’s getting a little stale.
I would personally rather visit somewhere different, but I appreciate a suggestion needs made.

How about the Moulin Inn up near Pitlochry? It’s out the town centre, up near their own brewery.
It’s more a traditional English pub type setup, although they have a dining room seperate.

If there is any interest, I can enquire once we have indicative numbers.
Just a thought.

Here is a Linky.

The Moulin Inn/Hotel looks good and has the added advantage (for me) of not being as far as Fernie Castle - there's better/more info at https://www.moulinhotel.co.uk/ ... and I could do 15th.
The key at this late stage is availability, even though interest seems a tad slow (14 max so far) it may be worth checking both now ?

Thanks for setting this up Lugy, good to think about these things early enough to have options!

I'm happy with Fernie, the food is excellent & the venue seems to suit a group our size. Very willing to entertain alternative venues, especially if it helps our northern members have a little less far to travel. Is it three years since we had the Aberdeen meet? That was a really good venue as well. Time is of the essence now, as venues will be getting, or already be, booked up for Sundays running up to Christmas. Happy to help out if I can.

I can add Parish and Mrs Parish along with the butler as attendees depending on the date/availability.

I voted for the 8th but it now seems I can do either

The Moulin Inn looks good, nice wee run up there too (avoiding the A9!).

15th works for us.

Looks as though the 15th is nudging ahead in the polls, if you take account of those who voted for 8th but can also do 15th. Potential numbers now around 18/19.
Is the Moulin available that day ? At what cost/head (couldn't see a Christmas menu on the site) ?

I've voted for the 15th but could in reality do either.
For venue, the Moulin Inn sounds eminently suitable to me.
Is anyone contacting them?
Kev?
