Hi there,
My partners radio has stopped working, it is a single CD player with radio below. The cd takes and ejects a cd so I am guessing there is power to the unit.
I have removed the unit and bought a replacement second hand item that I understand may need Tech 11 to re programme. Will I scupper things if I just try the replacement without de commissioning the original one. I have heard the radio is coded to the chassis number?
Alternatively is it possible to by pass the tech 11 by replacing just the radio behind the fascia as it were? I am about 50 miles from the nearest tech 11 guy so wanted a quick fix if poss,
Many thanks guys,
Ollie

For the sake of clarity, are we talking this unit or some sort of aftermarket replacement some people fit?

You won't cause a problem trying the new head unit. It will either work or not.

"Removing" the old unit can be done even if it's not in the car!! Then if you need to "add" the new unit that can be done later after "removing" the old one.
