Is it possible to retro fit the original SatNav unit to a 9-3 convertible. I am assuming that the loom is already in place?

Given the age of the face lift cars is it even worth doing?

Any recommendations for a modern unit that will fit and not look too out of place.

Don't have the car yet, just looking at options for Nav & phone connectivity :D

Quite a few seem to fit android units in place. I've got the standard saab nav and although it's a bit clunky it's got me where I need to go.
But I think android would be the way to go, certainly if I had to replace mine.

Is this a facelift 9-3 after 2007? If so, it's an industry standard system and you can fit an aftermarket unit. I haven't done it in a 9-3, but I've done it in a 9-5 on more than one occasion.

The latest one I fitted was a Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB. This is a fairly basic unit. It does DAB/AM/FM radio and has a USB and links to Apple CarPlay and Android phones. This means that you don't need to have a satnav unit. I use Waze on the phone and it appears on the screen. You will need a harness to connect a new unit to the Saab connectors, and an extra bit for keeping the steering wheel controls for the radio. If you don't use the steering wheel controls for the radio, all the other bits that use the steering wheel controls will still work OK.

You can get the harnesses and stuff from

Everything will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end...
