Well today i thought i'd have a go at one of my first new purchases............. a new bonnet badge as my old one was shot!
So here's the crap badge
Image
and the new one now in its place :D
Image
Prior to fitting this i sprayed about 5 layer's of clear lacquer over it to see if it would preserve the badge and make it last longer.... time will tell i guess

Also whilst the bonnet was open i had a look at the perishing vac hoses which may well have been the original ones on the car..... so thought sod it, i had an hour or so so replaced them with some new vac hoses i'd purchased through neo bro's.......... Whilst looking for which vac hoses were shot i found this
Image

A vac hose from some connection near the inlet manifold. Any idea's what this one is??

Took it out for a test drive afterwards and i think it may have solved the poo mpg i was getting.... it also picks up better and goes a bit quicker.
More updates as and when the bits arrive..... which hopefully will be this week :D

Well another day and some more bits turned up for the old girl :D
First up some 100w fog light bulbs with a bit of a blue tint.... dont shine blue but do look a little bit better in the lense....
Image

Next up was some Osram rainbow style indicator bulbs.... they flash orange, but look much nicer when in the lense
Image
Image

Then last but not least i got some "SAAB" number plate surrounds for the front and back.... look ok, i just need to get some new plates now without the holes in them
Front
Image
Rear
Image

Also changed the NS headlamp wiper motor.... something i'd been meaning to do for absolutely ages...... anyways all done and now i have 2 fully functioning headlamp wipers. No pictures of this though as there isn't really much to show.............

More updates in the next few days too hopefully :D

Number plate surrounds look good...Very good. I have the same ones on mine!
I see your plates have the Westbury Saabs logo on them, thats where my first & second Saab 9000's came from, just around the corner from me infact.

Yep these were the plates from the previous owner.... think they had the car serviced there from new up to 186k miles..... loads of reciepts with it when i got it, inc a sump drop at 175k.

More bits turned up today :D so updates again later tonight when i get home and get them fitted :D
I think the cost of the surrounds was very good, sub £10 delivered from abroad. Can't complain with that!

Sorry for the delay in getting the new pictures up......... got some Heko Wind deflectors for the barge that arrived yesterday, but fitted them tonight.... Think they look pretty cool........... what do you guys think?
Image
Image

Only got a couple more bits left to fit once they arrive now.....
Whilst im thinking about it, has anyone ever fitted the Aero side skirts to a non aero car??? do i have to fully remove the old ones to fit the new ones?? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Dan

So Got a few more updates tonight....................
Gave mine and the mrs car a good wash over the weekend, nothing too major, still needs to be clayed this year as it hasnt been done for a year, and the interior needs a valet too....... will get done when i get time. Anyways, first update is that i changed the rear number plate lights from the crappy yellow looking things to a nice clear bright white color
Half done - Image
All Done - Image
Loads better even if i do say so myself........ second one was a PITA to get out as the bolt was stuck.......... but managed to get the lens off and swapped the bulb over. Just normal 501 bulbs on these.
Now a couple of pics after i'd cleaned and waxed it

Doesn't look too bad. Thats it for now. I have a Maptun Black DV coming from Neo's next week........... should have been a week ago but the delivery from maptun got lost by the carriers some how.......... anyways, easy mod to fit when it arrives. Will also look at tarting up the engine bay too.
I've got 4 new Rose joint bushes to get fitted as soon as i get chance also as the NS top one is shot!

Cars also booked in for 16.06.12 @ MIJ in Walsall to have the 3" custom cat back made & fitted, then also my Al special 3" decat, quick trip to Karl's to fit the big red injectors and upload the stage 3 map in the afternoon......... She's getting there slowly but looking forward to the next couple of updates :D

Also just ordered my 6 months tax for it.... 3" exhaust will be getting fitted next saturday along with red injectors and stage 3 mapping from Karl :D Cannot wait!

Got my local garage to get them done............. £70 labour so not all bad......... local saab specialists in rugby (Ken Jones) wanted £280 :-o for labour only! Got the parts through work dirt cheap so will get them sorted at the end of the month.
Took the car out today after fitting the DV yesterday and it deffo feels much better now, no hesitation, think a combo of the bolt mod, new vac hoses and also the DV has solved the hesitation / performance problems it once had.
Cheers for the comment pal.

Cheers mate, they are good, little fiddly to sort the back ones out and get the clips into place mind, fronts are real easy.

spanny just invested in a 02 9.5 2.0lpt est and have really enjoyed reading your thread some nice ideas in there and I will certainly be adding a few of them to my bus, starting with bulbs and deflectors cheap and quick, thinking strongly of a stage 1 noob in v near future then will have to consider suspension etc
Great thread though keep up good work

Going to get the 3" decat that Al made up for me fitted, and then also a custom cat back section also 3". I'm undecided as of yet of which tip to go for.... i'm thinking a twin exit (on one side) rather than the oval type so it looks a little more discreet. I'll probably need to have at least 1 silencer in there too otherwise i fear it may be a tad too loud .... Will make sure i get plenty of pics when the exhaust is being made up on saturday too and then also some video's when i get chance (can test out the mrs new HD camcorder i got for her birthday ;) ) so we can have some real good quality video's of what it sounds like on some drive by's ;) (not the gangster style drive by's )
To say i'm quite excited would be an understatement.... Will aim to also try to get those rose joint bushes changed at the end of the month too....
Nearly there then, just a few things to touch up around the edges.... also i'm going to try to get some 308mm carriers and get them upgraded on the front with maybe some grooved discs + DS2500 pads. Then next step will be for the suspension upgrade..... i can get new shocks through work for next to nothing.... (Will opt for the Aero spec ones, but will check the differences on the OE drawings first to see what the damping rates etc are like compared to normal ones) then maybe some lowering springs, oh and new tires, and then i think the final bit will be a wheel refurb + possibly the SAS anti-roll bar set, unless Eibach or someone like that do some.

And in the quality! What the hell is that a picture of? That's never a Saab downpipe is it? What bodger has tried to fab that on a £10.99 pipe bender?

Jeez, you're gonna notice a difference after tomorrow.
