As some of you know I have taken my Project 9-3 off the road & resigned it to track use only :-

Have bought a 9-5 2.3lpt 1998 car as my daily driver - will be tidying a few things up on it & a couple of nice sensible mods as its also going to be a towcar for the 9-3

First of a few mechanical repairs - handbrake adjusted & brake fluid replaced by Nottm Saab - & platinum spark plugs replaced by me.

now onto the exterior - which IMO was looking a little dated so a couple of small & cheap tweeks.

Old faded Bonnet badge

Old orange indicator bulbs & saide repeaters

New Silvatec clear indicator bulbs

New crystal clear side repeaters with silvatec clear bulbs

New bonnet badge

I even managed to fit the badge without breaking the pins off the back this time

You don't need the expensive platinum plugs on an LPT. You don't really need them on the Aero if you change them more often.

They where the ones listed in the handbook for the 2.3, normal plugs for the 2.0ltr.

I've just checked the EPC and the platinum plugs are only listed for the 1998-2000 9-5 2.0t (B205E) with Green Injectors.

If the 2.0t has red injectors the normal plugs apply.

SO the 2.3t should not need platinum plugs. My 1998 2.3 SE didn't.

The Aero (B235R) didn't appear until a year later and used platinum plugs. They have recently all been changed from PFR7H-10 to PFR6H-10

Here's the full EPC listing:

Gave the car a damn good clean today

After washing did the claybar & it pulled a load of yellow/orange off the bodywork - this wasn't visible & i think its pollen off the trees on the previous owners drive.

Got it all off & gave it a good polishing with AG ultra deep shine.

Will post some pics when i have somewhere to host them - after saabpics online has disappeared :wall:

Get a photobucket account and stick them on that, other than that sounds very nice so far.

Yep , not my cup of tea really but i've always said " I'd rather have a good car in a crap colour than a crap car in a good colour"

...and yeah at that price you can't really moan 8)

Were the calliper carriers from a1999/2000/2001 pre- facelift Aero? Later ones may not fit.

No - just stage 1, so its got more grunt for towing the blackun.

And with the aero suspension & brake setup & 17" wheels/tyres to suit 8)
